Caught out by Cash back T&C

Just wondering if anyone else has been caught out by the recent pentax cash back?
For various reasons I had not had an opportunity to send off my claim until this weekend. The terms and conditions I had downloaded from amazon, stated a closing date of 14th Feb 2013.

On printing the claim form I then discover that claims to be received by 31st jan?

I had made my purchase from Jessops ( double tesco vouchers being the deciding factor). Due to the failure of the business pentax forms and T&C were not available on line through jessops, hence sourcing from amazon.

I have contacted Pentax this morning and they are unaware of this particular set of terms and conditions, but have advised me to forward the claim and they will investigate.

Does anyone know where I stand? As far as I can see the link is an official pentax/ricoh document. I assume that they would be obliged to honour the dates specified?

If you can demonstrate that the Amazon T&Cs stated 14 Feb then I think the claim should be honoured....

You have the PDF stating the closing date. Pentax have said they will investigate. I'd submit your claim fast, as see what happens.
Keep copies of everything for yourself, but send Pentax a copy of your PDF.
You have nothing to lose, and may even get your cashback.

Strange, you can see clearly on the linked pdf the date is in a different font. Why this would have been changed just on the Amazon document site after Pentax released it is something Pentax should look into.

Certainly sounds like you should be able to get the cashback to me. Lesson I suppose (for us all) is always to go the manufacturers own website for details.

Point taken about downloading from manufacturers site. Also I had not noticed the different font used for the date,it was only when I rechecked and looked at the 'a' in February that I could see what you meant. It does seem odd to say the least!

You might be right but it is possible that Pentax made the change. The file was originally created by Keith Blackmore on 17 Oct 2012 and the final mods made on 31 Oct.

Have a look at http://filesresidence.com/File/bme8eheko09pg# the document is almost identical so it could be that all changes were made and at the last minute they noticed the date was wrong.

However, the Euro version for te K30 http://filesresidence.com/File/cgldjkbao09pg# has 31 January listed

I had filled in my cash back form for the K30 and I rang up Pentax who said they had recieved it, not sure when they going to put it into bank as yet. Does that mean it was a scam then?

No, pentax are not guilty of scamming.
The worst that is likely, is that T&C have been amended at some stage and somehow two versions have gone public.

If you submitted your claim before 31/1/13, you will get your cash back. Just may take a little time to process it.

My own case is a little less certain. However I have faith that Pentax will honour the T&C that have been displayed by Amazon, stating 14th feb.

They don't let you know...

Have to keep checking mone, because when ever i ask, the bank say it's hasn't gone in.

I check my account online - had to go into it today to check something and found it had been paid in to the account on 12th Feb

Pleased to say that pentax have honoured the 14th feb cash back closing date erroneously published on the amazon link.
Delighted it all went though so smoothly. Thank you pentax.
