The 1/2.33 is ane example of the semi-standard - if slightly bizarre - way of indicating sensor size:

"Sensor formats of digital cameras are mostly expressed in the non-standardized "inch" system as approximately 1.5 times the length of the diagonal of the sensor. This goes back to the way image sizes of video cameras used until the late 1980s were expressed, referring to the outside diameter of the glass envelope of the video camera tube."

DA Ltd. 40 and 70 both cover a 35mm frame also apparently. I've not used the 60-250 on a film body so don't know about coverage. And it isn't with me at present so I can't check.

Generally I agree - however I guess that might compromise the diminutive size of the limited lenses.

Generally very positive K30 review in this weeks AP - his main gripe seems to be the 'noisy lens motors' in some lenses - Surely a reviewer in a specialist mag should know that the motor for non SDM lenses is in the camera body? (Though the point that is can be noisy with some lenses is perfectly valid)

I have the 4-5.6 (non HSM) and like it very much. I thought about the 3.5 HSM but didn't go do it in the end as it is bulkier and pricier, and most reviews seem to rate the 4-5.6 as the better performer optically.

I am certainly interested in this lens - though depending on the price I might eventually go for the more versatile option of the the Sigma 300 2.8 with the matched 2x (and possibly 1.4x) converter. The actually buying won't happen until next summer anyway so I will have time to look at the experience of others.

Actually I think the composition of many of the pictures is superb - they tell the story very vividly and are deeply moving. There is much more to a 'good' photo than technical quality. And it is not unknown for photographers to make a virtue out of technical limitations (coarse grain anyone??)

DPR have done their K-01 review - In a nutshell Image quality superb, Autofocus so-so, Ergonomics distinctly dodgy.

There are various smartphone apps that will do DOF calculations for any lens on any format, which can be quite useful. With static subjects I tend to be lazy these days and just "bracket" by shooting at several apertures. Generally I am a great fan of f8!

The white one might look good with the 560/5.6 (when it eventually arrives...)
