I will be moving back to the UK from Rome in the summer and will be living near Guildford, Surrey. Are there a few Pentaxians in the area who might like to meet up for a photo outing from time to time (or is there even a group that already does)?
While we are at it - where does the MX-1 belong? - it is not an Optio and does not really belong in the 'mirrorless' category - and I have not seen much discussion of it, Why not just change the 'Optio' category to 'Pentax/Ricoh compact cameras'?

A hotshoe is useful - there is a nice little Metz flashgun which I have for my LX5, which tilts up to allow bounce. I have a compact camera bag which holds both snugly.
None the less I think this is a great offering by Pentax. I wonder if any of the Q lenses would have a big enough image circle for it - it would be nice to see an interchangeable lens version!

I suspect some co-operation with Olympus... The Olympus XZ2 has identical specs for both sensor and lens, but has a hotshoe and a control ring around the lens.
However the lens/sensor combination gets well reviewed in the Olympus, so at least it is likely to be a competent performer!

I am also a member of the 18-250 fan club - I have the Pentax badged version and have been quite impressed with it.
The difference in (street) price was only £50 or so - and of course we actually had the choice between the two versions.

That conversation compares it with the 18-125. It seems quite clear that the Tamron and Pentax 18-270 are basically the same lens.

It does occur to me that there is no 30 1.7 Pentax fit lens that I am aware of, and indeed apart from 3rd party manual lenses, no 18 2.8 either. So the question is - what body are you planning on putting them on? - if it is a film camera that changes the equation somewhat!

DP review have posted their test photos for the KII and the KIIs - and the comparison it comes up with on the opening page (jpg at iso 100) illustrates very clearly that the KIIs gives noticeably higher definition at the expense of noticeable moire.

The *ist DL is the lightest of the digital bodies at 470g (excluding batteries)
Or why not try the joys of film photography if some of your lenses will work with film bodies - all the MZ series apart of the the MZS are below 400g - some as light as 320g, and the *ist is a similar weight. Whats more they can be had for very little money. Battery and film only adds about 40g I think.
