I'll just put in another plug for the the Samyang. It is surely going to outperform the Q combo. I like mine anyway!!

Comparing the pictures of the lens alone with the one on the camera I think you are right - rather minimalist to say the least!

Talking of flare - it includes a bundled hood (MH-RA55) but no images of that yet...

But anyway I will probably stay with my 17-70. Not as fast at the wide end but if I want compact, moderately fast and wide I have the GR

Which seems means it is soft wide open. Usually high end lenses try to design that out! Reminds me of a principle of software design - a 'feature' is a bug you could not get rid of!

It looks almost 'military' certainly it is going for a 'rustic' feel, along with the (rather nice looking) tan leather case & strap. The price isn't all that inflated - in fact given the SRP of the standard plastic adaptor and hood is al ludicrous £60, and a dedicated leather case and strap like that would normally retail for about the same, arguably the camera is cheaper than the standard version, at least at SRP levels!

I'll stick with my standard one for the time being. It is a fantastic camera!

Except the main reason the sensor can shift is to allow shake reduction to work - if the sensor were larger in the first place that would man you would need an even larger image circle if you wanted to retain sensor shift shake reduction.

Actually sensor size does change DOF in the sense that if the sensor is smaller then the diameter of the acceptable 'circle of confusion' must also be correspondingly smaller. This in fact reduces DOF for smaller sensor cameras. However for a given angle of view the decreased focal length required by the smaller sensor increases DOF much more than the decrease caused by requiring a smaller circle of confusion.
