Good review for the camera which is nice, but I didn't quite understand their criticism of Pentax lenses, in particular that the lenses aren't up to the standard of the camera.
There is, however, a good analysis of the K-3's strong market place positioning.

They are saying that the AF speed of the lenses isn't fast enough to keep up with the camera body. This is mainly true of SDM which is at times painfully slow.

The DC motor (18-135mm) is much faster.

Took forever to put this review out it seems. Will Amazon the site owners have a special offer now then?

Interesting they don't like Pentax colours much given a lot of us love Pentax cameras and many lenses for their colour rendering.

All in all pretty long list of Pro's over cons I think. Same 83% Gold score as the original K5 I note.

Lower marks for video again. Agree that it hinted as being much better for video with the external mic and headphone sockets. Is it mechanical stabilisation for video or that budget 'movie SR' electronic version? Improving the video (and therefore overall score) would be comparatively very easy.

Given the ability to post process, and super raw files, I don't know that colour rendition is such a significant point, either for or against Pentax. That seemed to be harsh given they were really saying it was just different to others.

In all fairness, having used my K-3 for the last month, I do believe they have got the overall score wrong, if it was me I would give it a 84.1%, but the reviewer being a Canon/Nikon user I.e. a proper camera, he most probably knows best.

Another small point to make, I always bought What digital camera magazine until a couple of months ago when they changed the format and ruined it beyond belief, But I picked it up yesterday to have a quick look as on the front cover it stated a big test on enthusiast cameras which were the Canon 70D, Nikon D7100 all ok so far and then the Pentax K5ii?

Now I am sorry but the older Pentax was never going to compete with the newer cameras but if they had used the K-3 it may have won the test, so then you start to think and then wonder if Canon and Nikon were in contact with the said magazine.

I will be making a compliant to the publishers about this test, but why should I be left to do this? Surely Pentax UK should be making their feelings known but I very much doubt they will. Hence the overall problem with Pentax, they seem to be quite happy to be bullied out of the market place.

There's a few assumptions you're making there though MattyH as we have no idea what Ricoh Imaging may or may not be doing behind the scenes.

But you're right to make a complaint if you're unhappy with their test.

Yes of course these are only my assumptions, but the K-3 has been out for quite a while now so I am guessing it would of been quite easy for them to get hold of one for a test about current enthusiasts cameras, I am guessing easier then the K5ii?

It does stick in the throat a bit though, as what hope does Pentax/Ricoh have when the media can't get on side and have to rig a major test so one of the big two come out on top. But that's only my opinion.
