If they ever invent a time machine and your able to travel back to 1977 you should be well set up
A PENTAX SMC 35mm F3.5 went for £122 a few days ago very surprised that anyone would pay that much for a slow 35mm link

Use 1/60th with SR on or try 1/250th with SR on and off.
The K-7 suffers from shutter-induced blur around 1/100th sec.

The Police don't even have the right to look at the photos from what I understand. Formatting the card is certainly OTT and might be seen as destroying evidence which could get them in all sorts of trouble.
Best of luck in getting a settlement that will make you happier about the treatment you received.
