No.5 followed by No.7 for me.

It's good to experiment...get the odd unexpected 'gem' from time to time.

Personally for me the 120-400 is a much better bet for aircraft and wildlife than the 150-500. My son had the 150-500 for about 18-20 months before he moved to Canon...he sold the 150-500 and I didn't want to buy it off him, despite having had some good results from it. Was a bit 'hit and miss' for me although to be fair, my son got better results with it than i did. Had it been the 120-400 he'd bought, I suspect i'd have bought that off him, as it is just that bit shorter and lighter to make a difference when carrying around for hours.

The 120 short end is also more useful at airports and airshows than the 500 length is on the longer lens. 400mm max focal length is perfectly adequate I feel, particularly as you can crop for those small number of shots where 500 focal length might be the best bet.

Just my tuppence worth. If that lens were to have been advertised in about 3 months time I may well have been tempted.

Some very nice images.

I particularly like No.4 (the ferns) and No.7 with No.11 splitting them due to its 3-D feel.

All the hill shots are very competent...the lens does perform well outdoors (as one would expect).

I like the experimental, abstract nature of them.

I could see something of this style as large wallart in a modern house.

Thumbs up!

The K-70 is better than the K-30/K-50 because it focused faster and has a larger buffer, but doesn't seem to work too well with 55-300 PLM because the combo focuses too fast and often loses focus lock rather too easily (although the combo is fine with most other types of shooting). Hope the KP is somewhat better in that respect
Interesting comment...first time i've ever heard a Pentaxian complain that their equipment was focussing too fast!

They both tackle it well, as for airshows I’m sure I should have been at Cosford this weekend.

As for aircraft go to Instagram.com/final_approach_newcastle the link to the camera plus lens are in the tags below he pictures.[/quote]Thanks Barry...good to know.
Unfortunately I won't be able to follow your link as I don't do FB or affiliates. Hopefully you'll post the odd aviation image in the future.

Hi Barry,

welcome to the site.
I'm still using a K-50 which is just about 5 years old now...hoping I don't encounter any aperture block issues.

One of my main interests is Aviation...must have taken thousands of such images over the years. Like you i'm itching to get back out there to continue and would have been looking forward to Fairford in about a months time.

Feel free to post images on here as a means to get involved. I'd be interested in seeing how the K-70 and KP tackle aircraft.

Cheers

Karlo

Hi Erin,

welcome to the forum.

It would help to know which body you have or were intending using, also what do you intend using it for primarily and what sort of budget do you have?

With this information people could offer more targeted advice.
