Hi Barry. There are a few of us geordies around. Some like me (from Newcastle) / ( Lemington on Tyne) / (South Slields) have gone south. I'm now in Kettering and have been since 1969. I still miss the beaches and the Roman Wall. "Happy Days" Welcome to Pentax Land.

Hi Barry,
welcome to the site.
I'm still using a K-50 which is just about 5 years old now...hoping I don't encounter any aperture block issues.
One of my main interests is Aviation...must have taken thousands of such images over the years. Like you i'm itching to get back out there to continue and would have been looking forward to Fairford in about a months time.
Feel free to post images on here as a means to get involved. I'd be interested in seeing how the K-70 and KP tackle aircraft.

The K-70 is better than the K-30/K-50 because it focused faster and has a larger buffer, but doesn't seem to work too well with 55-300 PLM because the combo focuses too fast and often loses focus lock rather too easily (although the combo is fine with most other types of shooting). Hope the KP is somewhat better in that respect
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

They both tackle it well, as for airshows I’m sure I should have been at Cosford this weekend.One of my main interests is Aviation...must have taken thousands of such images over the years. Interesting comment...first time i've ever heard a Pentaxian complain that their equipment was focussing too fast! I’m Barry from Newcastle upon Tyne.
I’ve been a Pentax user since the days of the Spotmatic, today using the K70 and KP and eagerly awaiting the new flagship model.
I’ve only had one wobble where I almost ditched Pentax after my Ks2 and then my K50 failed due to the aperture block failure. The Ks2 I sold for spares and the K50 I had repaired by the Pentax agent in Uttoxeter, it lasted exactly 5 shots and ended up worse than it was before. It was repaired under warranty but on return it had other faults so I gave up and part exchanged it for the KP which I love.
My main interest is Aviation photography so now I’m waiting for things to get back to normal as the pandemic eases. That said I do maintain three Instagram sights for nature, aviation and rail.
I’m now struggling to get to grips with Macro after buying a Tamron SP90 but as of yet I’ll just say results are bad.
