Good set of varied coloured Columbines as you say.

I really like these little, hardy plants. Have just started blooming in our garden and many gardens in vicinity...they don't half spread as well and seem to fend for themselves without any input other than
cutting them back once a year.

Weather wise...here in Northwich, tomorrow should be a good day for macro as sunny with very light wind so should be little movement. I'll aim to get out and take a few flowers/plants.

Oh well...disregard my last in the light of John's advice!

Better safe than sorry.

Renata are a Swiss company. 'Swiss' and 'quality' seem to go together in the context of manufactured goods so I shouldn't imagine you'd go far wrong with Renata batteries. Check the capacity of the battery and compare with other brands though...most expensive isn't always longest lasting when it comes to batteries.

Your batteries have done really well to be still reading 1.57 volts after more than a decade...this will have saved them from leaking.

You could also consider using a single lithium 3v battery ref: 1/3N / 2L76 / CR11108 in place of the pair of SR44...more expensive but will last longer and with a much flatter voltage discharge curve (more Oomph for longer). Check first with someone in the trade who has done this...doubt there will be a problem but i personally have not tried it only read about other people using this replacement but for other applications.

Nice shot John.

Wouldn't touch the shutter speed (up) you'd only end up with less rotor blur which has to be the best part of helicopter shots. If the shutter speed is too high the helicopter looks like it has had an engine failure mid flight but worse, as in real life the rotors would still be moving round as it 'autorotated'.

Excellent action shots with a lens not normally used for motorsport.

What makes them particularly good is that your panning prowess has allowed you to capture sharp car bodies
against an OOF background, whilst still capturing movement in the wheels, which makes all the difference as the cars don't look 'static'.

Particularly like the blue Anglia shots...soft spot for these as was my first car.

I'd actually forgotten that the new camera was due to be received/delivered about now after months of snippets/ mini reviews etc...good to see that finally its out there for all you lucky boys and girls. Hope no major disappointments.

+1...my thoughts exactly...particularly when taking shots of a moving object at or close to infinity.

I absolutely agree , manual focus is so much better in so many ways as it pinpoints exactly where you want the focus point to be. I know it’s been said a thousand times but the split screen viewfinder was fantastic in the film days
+1...again totally concur...small birds in amongst branches/vegetation will defeat any AF but not MF.

Hi Jack...welcome to the Pommie forum

Sounds like you've had a few issues to get over health wise but are still positive...well done.

Don't get to see many images from WA on here so feel free to throw a few our way.

Best Wishes

Karlo
