Inspiring subject matter, nice images and obviously a very good combination of camera and lens. Good work.

Some fine images there, it does seem capable of very good results. I particularly like No.3 followed closely by 5 and 6. The ruin in No.6 reminds me of a halloween pumpkin...I know...I know...think it must be the cut
out shapes in the stonework. Now if you could just arrange for it to be backlit by a burning orange glow on a very dark night...

Out of interest Vic, how have you found it in use? Does it do what it says on the tin? I've toyed with getting one of these before...just not really sure whether it would be a good investment or not.

I wasn't expecting that! Interesting though to see it go through its 'I'm not wearing any make-up' phase.

cheers Gary

Seems to be a poor take up so far...90 mins left to go (finishes at 3pm UK time) but only 5% sold...presumably this will come up again then in a week or two.

I found the USA pricing soon after my post. The UK prices aren't too bad I suppose...particularly as these are the launch prices. They'll probably knock £20-£30 off for Easter. Not sure that the new 18-50 kit lens will hold a £100 price though..I would have thought its more likely to be just £70-£80 on top of the body before long as it looks a bit light and fragile.

Dilemma..Do you get a K-S2 for £549 body only or (until end of Feb) get a K-3 (with any old, photo-related trade-in at SRS) for just £50 more!

If you are going to go with the kit lens options , then it really is a straight choice if you buy from SRS
K-S2 with new kit lens for £650 or K-3 with current kit lens for the same price (allowing for trade in and current £80 offer!!

This pricing 'clash' only seems to make sense if there is a new K-3II virtually ready to go, to command a £800-£900 price point. When the offers on the K-3 expire at end of Feb and end of March price will probably go back up to about £700 body only...but they won't get any more than that and this will have to carry them until Oct/Nov when FF comes in...very risky.

Hopefully there might be some interviews with senior management this week to get a clearer idea of what they are planning as it looks a bit confusing at the moment.

Regarding the price..it looks like its the K-50 upgrade rather than K-5 territory, so I would guess £499 body only..£549 with kit lens. Any less and it tramples all over the K-S1, any more and you might as well buy a K-3.

I'm a bit concerned with the current pricing strategy...theres not much blue water between the K-S1/K-S2
and between the K-S2/K-3...all very scrunched up. (Assuming K-S2 price guess is reasonable).

The 'flower' shot is quite nice with lovely rich colours but the other two are very mediocre. I think it was a mistake to combine a new lens with a new camera (unless the results were stunning). Would have been better to put the lens with a K5II or K3 so that people could then judge just the lens. Similarly to show off the K-S2 it needs pairing with a known quantity from their lens line -up.

You only get one chance to make a good first impression.
