Pentax K-01
I've just taken my K-5 outside to take some photos of crocuses in the afternoon sunlight with my 50mm FA macro lens. I tried using liveview to simulate taking such a photo on a K-01 but I couldn't see what I was taking as the screen was reflecting the sunlight. Getting a shot in focus wasn't possibl...

Pentax K-01
Perhaps the K-01 is a little "optimistically" priced but I've just read that the Fuji X1-Pro is going to be £1490 body only. That makes the K-01 look quite reasonable at £650!!!! Quite the opposite. It makes the beautiful and carefully designed X1-Pro, -- complete with viewfinder and a system of ...

how many Q owners?
Bought my Q after price dropped locally. Took the Q to the snow recently. Very handy to take snaps around the mountain. Glare made shots difficult to frame but just pointed and snapped. Very happy with the quality of photos. Used a CP filter (in fact I leave it on the camera permanently). I have the...

Another Pentax Q Case
I just took delivery of the grey Pentax gadget bag for my Q. First impression was that nothing much is going to fit in that! But... Q with 01 standard lens, viewfinder, fisheye, batteries, cards , lens cloth, remote control F, PL filter, 02 zoom and my super-telephoto 110 70mm and adapter all swallo...

Any really good Q kit bags turned up yet?
I have a lowepro apex 100aw - it holds my Q with a lens fitted, plus the other two lenses I have, and external viewfinder, spare battery and mini-polarising filter. Very snug - although a teeny bag, it comes with re-configurable dividers inside (held by velcro) and has an integral rain cover can tha...

Pentax Q vs Digiscoping
Thanks, very interesting. I didn't realise the Q had no AA filter, so perhaps that explains why the images can be so good.

Pentax Q Lenses
Amazed to read that the Pentax polarising filter cant be used with 'lens food' I have to say that it has a real quality feel to it and reasonably priced.

Pentax Q review
Great review and reviewer and not just because its my Favourite New Camera EVER! too. When I was in Jessops the other day picking up my Pentax PL100 filter for it, I told the assistant I was surprised they stocked it and asked him if they had sold many. He told me that despite the IQ and the buil...

500mm and 800mm Lenses for Q
So is it 500mm focal length or 500mm 35mm equiv on a Q? If it has a label saying 500mm, it is 500mm irrespective of what it's attached to. The 800mm version clearly shows it badged as an 800mm lens. Focal length won’t change due to film or sensor size. You can have any equivalent FOV you want any...

Inspiration with the Q
This taken through my scope indoors from about 25 feet. Using this - made by putting a cheap 40.5mm filter in a piece of plastic pipe which conveniently is a perfect fit over the eyepiece and screwing the other end onto the Q.

Inspiration with the Q
Normally putting the images through Photomatix really emphasises any noise, the Q seems to have very little. I am really interested in this last quote. I would like to know if the lack of noise is helped by the fact that the Q does not have an anti-aliasing filter (correct me if I'm wrong)? If t...

Inspiration with the Q
The chair shot above showed signs of Moire in the seat of the chair in the tiff I saved from Photomatix, but it completely disappears when in CS6, even in Bridge. I know that moire is fairly easy to control in post processing and wonder if it's applied by default in CS6. Certainly bodes well f...

Should I buy a 'Q'
The flash can be used in the down position so does not have to be popped up, although it does help with red eye. The Q is well built, with a DSLR interface and both 8mm and zoom are good quality optics. I am struggling slightly with set up of the quick dial on the front - my only gripe. The dof f...

K01 Auto Iso - Minimum Iso
I take your point, and I think my Samsung GX-10 operated in a similar way to what you describe, but without the algorithm bias, which sounds a good idea. However, the K-01 only has a rear wheel, and high ISO performance is so good, you would only really want to force ISO lower than 400 to get a wid...
