I'm not sure why you think there is no SR with the cheap adapters. SR works with anything you put in front of the camera, being sensor shift type.
With the cheap adapters the camera has no idea which lens you are putting on the camera nor is there an option to input a focal length

In that case, I'd switch off SR. In any event, say using a 100mm lens (550mm 35mm-equiv) at these sort of focal lengths I would be looking for some sort of camera support.
Usually I use a tripod with the head loeft loosish so it can be freely turned whilst retaining some measure of support.
I'll look forward to trying out an adapter so I can have a play with various techniques.

Well I've read enough and seen enough to think it must be fun to try all these different combos. With a few more Tesco vouchers I reckon the Q will be under £200 at Jessops and with a cheap adapter, worth the risk with my limited funds!

According to the Pentax website, the Pentax adapter will allow you to input the focal length. I wonder if this has been made possible by the latest firmware upgrade. I did read that the firmware should be updated so that the adapter's features can be fully utilised. With the cheap adapters the camera has no idea which lens you are putting on the camera nor is there an option to input a focal length
Hopefully it will apply then to the cheap adapter as well.

Thanks, very interesting. I didn't realise the Q had no AA filter, so perhaps that explains why the images can be so good.
Best regards, John
