Cheap circular polarisers
I used polarising filters regularly in my film days but haven't bothered/been able to justify the cost after switching to digital. An email from good old 7DayShop offered polarisers at what seemed like a ridiculously low price and I thought I'd try one out on my 16-45 (£3.99). First impressions were...

Cheap circular polarisers
I use a Hoya Pro1 polariser which is superb. However, I also have a £3 cheapo one off ebay, made in China. This can be useful for using on conjunction with a ND Grad filter, where the combined effect with the Hoya Pro1 would be too strong. For most situations though, the Hoya is the clear winne...

DA 40mm f2.8 XS for GBP99.00 @Microglobe
This is a fantastic little lens, and they appear to have copies in stock. If you can live without aluminium construction, distance scale, and quick-shift and don't mind the 27mm filter thread size, then you're getting a lens that is optically equivalent to the 40mm Limited (SMC, not HD) for under GB...

k-5ii for £529
K5II vs. IIs. IIs has no anti-aliasing filter; otherwise identical afaik.

microglobe 35mm and 50mm DA lenses
I bought front lens cap for a DA 35MM limited and although it came in what looked like genuine Pentax packaging and looked the part it would not fit my lens it was to small, it would fit if i put a uv filter on the lens though. It fits my other 49mm filter thread lens great and the limited lens c...

Pentax Sensor Cleaning Kit O-ICK1
I bought a "genuine" Pentax lens cap for DA 35mm Limited from that lot, looked the part, the part number was right and it did not fit, fits all my other 49mm filter thread lenses though:roll:

645d with 55mm lens £2999 at SRS
Noticed that and very nearly pulled the trigger, strangely the only thing putting me off is the dark frame issue with long exposures. Going to be doing a lot of seascapes with a 16 stop filter soon so that would double any exposure length before I could take another shot, a 15 minute shot would ...

Pentax Lens deals at Microglobe
Whilst some of the above comments are encouraging, and they do get some good reviews, I was put off Microglobe after reading a number of poor reviews which inferred that 'new' items were in fact repackaged returns as well as difficult and discourteous customer service over returns. On that basis I d...

KS1 on offer too for the next ten hours
Honestly, it's a no brainer. Over say the K-50 you lose two control dials and weather sealing but you gain a 20MP sensor with no AA filter. I have one and I tend to use it over the K-30 now. It's small by not having a decent grip, but the guts are a normal Pentax camera. I can't think of...

Win a camera
The link is fine for me, but it doesn't say what you have to do for the competition. If it's a draw, they shouldn't call it a competition as a competition depends on the exercise of skill, judgement or knowledge by the participants and does not rely wholly on chance. A draw doesn't. I suspect the...

john Lewis, York - K-S1 & K50 deals
K-S1 is surprisingly capable, just with a tiny burst buffer. 20MP with no AA filter was top of the range stuff only 3-4 years ago.

Formatt Hitech Black Friday deals
Just thought an update might be interesting here! As mentioned above the set of Firecrest grads I was looking at were £60 cheaper on Amazon at their normal prices compares to this black friday "deal". Even though they were out of stock, I ordered them that day at £268.75. They are due to be de...

Early Black Friday Offer - Day 2
Goddam it Chris...... Can't ignore that offer on the 24-70, order placed and the kids will not be getting Christmas presents now ! Many thanks - your lens collection is looking mighty fine! I almost went for the 15-30, but that lack of filter ring is a real turn off for me. Also the new Irix 15m...

SRS Easter Deals
I have no issue with buying the refurbs if the price is decent. I think maybe Ricoh have realised they have made a rod for their own back with their 'like clockwork' sales and are looking to scale back a bit in the hope people will start buying lenses at full price. I have long argued that if ...

Upcoming Amazon Prime Pentax deals
I'm not saying they're doomed, just that they make it hard to buy locally in my company. That's possibly more a reflection of the local distributor, who is known to be particularly useless. I guess it comes down to How many sales could be gained/are lost by not having any product available in th...

Formatt-Hitech
Just bought their firecrest 100mm filter holder kit. With the 35% discount code it worked out at £106. Looking at a Lee 95mm C-PL price that's pretty good value!

645 D and lenses at Harrisons in Sheffield
Don't follow medium format prices but Harrisons are normally well priced and the low shutter count of the 645D with lenses may appeal. They also have a mint DFA* 70-200 2.8 for £1300 (they did have a mint 15-30 for £950 but someone beat me to it lol ) Regards George
