Clouds Across the Moon

Try to keep the iso at 100 for the moon. You might just about get away with the 300mm, not sure about the limitations of the 6MP but if you do not crop it heavily you should be ok I think. The trouble with not cropping is that even at 400mm, let alone 300mm, the whole frame looks like this: ...

Gone Fishing

Took a couple of shots at the harbour inSeaham ( near Durham )yesterday evening. This is about the only which doesn't show the dirt on my sensor  C&C as always

Nice image Father, really evokes the time of day. It is a pity you couldnt get the whole of the lighthouse reflection, but I guess that was not possible. ps. get that sensor cleaned!!

Gone Fishing

ps. get that sensor cleaned!! I know. This was just quick PPP late last night. I hadn't realised how dirty the sensor was until I looked at my shots. Good job I'd only taken about 20 as most are unusable:roll: I'll have a try of that crop Mike, see what it looks like

Nice, but sensor needs a clean :) I know :( It is frustrating as I was not really checking the pictures as I uploaded them to the laptop and even when I noticed it I totally forgot to clean the sensor in the evening! Something I need to keep on top of. I wish I had a one size fits all lens the...

Construction - Photo Project #4

Peter, Tim and Ralf, thanks. Tim, he's cleaning the surfaces with a spraygun, in preparation for the outer layers no doubt. I'm wondering if this surface represents solar panels? Here is another shot, Ralf.

Construction - Photo Project #7

Well...I think there is a big difference between "colour Popping" and leaving a "Hint" of colour. But here you are, just to give you a idea. I did take the edge of the orange a bit. And removed the small circle top left corner. (sensor grud or reality, I don't know)

Fish and plenty of them

35mm f2 can't recall the settings. With add on. Not all people post pics that still have intact information, but many do. # Camera Make = PENTAX Corporation # Camera Model = PENTAX K10D # Picture Orientation = normal (1) # X-Resolution = 2400000/10000 ===> 240 # Y-Resolution = 2400000/10...

Still trying to master good composition

that first shot.. one variation I'd try is this: get the lines in the leaf running diagonally across the frame, and parallel to the sensor to keep it in focus.. the place the shell, at the rule of thirds position as you have done but use slightly harder light for more contrast and texture...

My latest bash at portraits

To refer directly to Mannesty - it was a high key look I was after. This is just a personal preference of mine. I think the high key look is very good when it applies to the whole image, that is, the shadows have detail in them too. To my taste, these images don't quite make it because there is t...

Rhossili Wreck - critique please

Hi All, I'm looking for comments and ways to improve this image. e.g. would you clone out the house on the hillside? and what about general tone. I will be cleaning up all the light pebbles on the beach This will be printed for an open camera club competition. Thanks in advance.

Rhossili Wreck - critique please

Since you posted the original I thought I'd have a go: I think you've got quite a good sky for BW here, it might be worth considering keeping a bit more of it. All I did was play around with highlights and shadows, remove the house and a few larger white pebbles, and cloned out some of the h...

Thanks for the comments; useful to hear. Yes, it was taken at ISO200, f13, 1/499 sec according to the EXIF data. In fact I'll post all the EXIF data in case anything I've not mentioned is significant or of interest. The shot definitely doesn't capture the scene that I saw, for me. Just from look...

Decrepit...

I like the image, the processing seems appropriate. Having said that the grey sky looks a little odd given the sunlight shining on the back of the house. You've also got a couple of sensor spots in the top left.

Moon Shot

There are two ways to do it. Prime Focus (I think) is connecting the telescope directly to the camera. So, in effect, I have a 1000mm lens with an aperture of 100mm. Making it an f10 lens. To do this you need a "T ring" adapter and an extension tube. My tube comes in 3 parts. A short part, which b...

Superb images. I might as well put the 500mm 1:4.5 away now then :( This is the thing. When someone uses a telescope to get pictures as good as this, it spoils the whole "strain at the very limits of sensor / lens / focus / steady tripod / careful post-process" game... ... that we merrily to...

This is the thing. When someone uses a telescope to get pictures as good as this, it spoils the whole "strain at the very limits of sensor / lens / focus / steady tripod / careful post-process" game... ... that we merrily toil away at with only a camera and a proper (!) lens. :) Funny thing ...
