Some type of wasp ?

Thanks Stefan. I ordered a swab and liquid cleaner Sunday, hoping it will be here soon to sort my sensor out. I have a nasty mark on there that I have to clone out every time but I have a nasty feeling its a scratch. Too bad to hear that, you do wonders with the k10D so let's hope it's just some di...

Some type of wasp ?

let's hope it's just some dirt. Just thought .. scratch .. insurance claim .. new camera ... K-7 :D If it is scratched, it'll be the low pass filter, not the actual sensor. If that's the case it'll make a good candidate for turning into an IR camera by having the low pass filter replaced with glass....

Some type of wasp ?

Well the sensor cleaning fluid and swabs came this morning so I cleaned the sensor and now the sensor is totally knackered. Still, at least the mark is still there so I would still have had to get it sorted anyway.

Some type of wasp ?

I don't think it's totally knackered Mike. Wet cleaning of sensors takes practice and patience to get it smear free. Keep at it, or send/take it somewhere for cleaning. It took me best part of a day to clean an istD I had. I've not used wet cleaners since. It looks to me if the offending mark...

Some type of wasp ?

Now I am out of panick mode I tried again and thankfully they were just smears. I have cleaned it again and the sensor is a lot better but the last shot was at f13, the new one at f22 shows the scratch is a s bad as always so it will have to go back to Pentax at some stage I suppose. Just dont wa...

If you were still in Spain Mike, you'd be welcome to borrow my K10D while yours was repaired, as long as you don't scratch the sensor that is.

Sensor Noise

This reminds me of those three dimensional images that were around in the nineties. You had to stare at them for several minutes before you could see what they were, then when you looked away there was a distinct plop as your eyes sorted themselves out:shock:

DIRTY SENSOR ALERT . . . I was thinking that, but thought I'd cloned all the spots out. Which did I miss?? What's the best way to clean the sensor, I only have a cheap blower at the moment. Just; mirror up and blow away?

No, I'm not an archer. I think there may be another little dust spot immediately above the leftmost arrow. Regarding sensor cleaning, I use a combination of Giottos rocket blower, and when necessary, the Arctic Butterfly from Visible Dust. I would use a wet cleaning system only as a last re...

I would use a wet cleaning system only as a last resort since it took me absolutely ages to clear the smears from a *istD sensor after wet cleaning it. Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll have to get a better blower.

Natural Light - Wildlife

The sun last Sunday afternoon had a very soft quality to it, coupled with hardly any breeze it meant shooting into the sun around water, wasn't the usual disaster and the water itself just burnt out with quite a pleasant effect. K10D 400ASA Pentax 55-300mm lens + Pentax 1.4x converter Handh...

Natural Light - Wildlife

The second image is a real nice one. But I would tweak it to bring out the ripples very subtly maybe. :) There's some sort of smudge in the top right of the image. Thank's Paul, I actually prefer it without any ripples, like a sheet of glass, I can't see any on my other monitor/comp. that I di...

K-7 + DA*60-250mm +400ISO +Parrots!

More lens than body I feel. Although any improvement in the sensor is welcome! The DA*60-250 is a staggering performer. :D
