Today's liquid play
Take a workload of patience, then add another pile load of hours of trials and errors, splashes and cleaning up the mess at the end of every session, various experimentations with colours and liquids, get all drenched in coloured water and frustrating hours and what do you get in the end? :D Someth...

Is this oversharpened?
Over-sharpening is a product of the processing. A picture can't be too sharp in the sense that there is a limit to how sharp a lens should be, or how much detail a sensor should resolve. When a picture is over-sharpened, it starts to look unnatural, and un-life-like. That is what is happening h...

Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2009
Fine selection, thanks. Have a look at #3 which shows your sensor has a lot of dust spots on it.

Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2009 pt.2
A great selection and you were lucky with the weather! I actually like #5 as it is. The balloons at the edge don't bother me - they add to the feeling of movement. You do see to have some crud either on the lens or the sensor - it is particularly noticeable in #7.

Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2009 pt.2
Thanks for all the pointers. Not sure why but when you click on the picture it'll show you the full sized one and not a chopped picture like on here. (is there a pixel limit?) Wouldn't have a clue about cloning but willing to have a play. (I'm only using Picasa3 for editing) Mannesty also poin...

First attempts in the garden.
Nice series, but you have dust on your sensor. There are two distinct grey blobs in the sky of the first image.

Spider's web
Pauly - the LB is proper bayonet mount. Check out their web site. It's a real two element lens either plastic or glass and the tube is a wobbly plastic tube that lets you shift the lens in relation to the sensor. In that way the sharpest spot in the frame moves around the sensor and the exploding bl...

Some of my 365 project
Just had a look through them all, and there are some really nice shots there, and it's a very worthwhile exercise too - something I've never got around to doing. I should really try to do something along the same lines, or at least do a blog post a day, even if it's with older photos. A...

Some of my 365 project
Thanks Daniel, yes my sensor is majorly dirty! I've not had the courage to clean it, know of any articles or techniques to do so? You should definately try it out, I've definately got better because of it, and It's good fun to learn new techniques!

Some of my 365 project
There are plenty of discussions on here about it. I just used a Giottos Rocket Blower with my K10D, and that's always done the trick. Some people don't like using blowers and prefer something like the Arctic Butterfly. Here are a few threads on the subject: https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/sear...

Wine glasses
You have that freedom as the artist Amin so do what you like, it's so much fun to play with water :D I agree Stefan, its really fun. Only problem is the cleaning up at the end :). You should see the mess when I am finished :). But sometimes its all worth it in the end.

Connah's Quay Bridge in North Wales
All great shots! Love the moody sky, It really adds drama to the structure , The first shot looks as though bit belongs in a Terminator Film! I have seen the bridge photographed many times with deep blue sky so well done for getting something different and atmospheric. At the size shown on screen ...

Connah's Quay Bridge in North Wales
Cheers chaps. I'm not sure what's confusing about the pano shot though; It's a 180 degree fish-eye style panaorama (without the lens distortion of course) from left to right. I think it's an interesting way of conveying the view from the bridge in it's entirety. Also - just sorted out the ...

Nanchang China CJ-6A
While sitting on the rocks at the end of Hurst Spit yesterday waiting for the powerboats to go past during the Cowes classic race this plane went flying past ... most had their lenses pointing in the direction the boats were coming from and this little beauty snuck up from the opposite direction .. ...

London Museam HDR
Looking at these and the London Eye one and your comments has made me think this: HDR is for images whose dynamic range exceeds that which the camera sensor can faithfully record. Perhaps the DR in the subject just isn't very great to begin with and that is why they look a bit flat. Maybe you need a...

Hay bales
Hi Ted, Saw this thread yesterday, but only found some time now. Noticed you recommended me for C&C/PS and Composition in another thread. So I'll better start.Hold on to your hat  Seriously now..... Judging them as rural landscapes I find them a bit below par. This is why..... Nr...

Not a plane
Only nice comments please. OK then.... I really like the artistic approach to leaving the dirt showing from the sensor and also the sublime way that hot pixel in the right wing adds interest to an otherwise dark area, I also love the way you have cropped in on this to emphasise the noise in the g...

Not a plane
As some people know, I seldom do any post-processing apart from what Silkypix allows, so I'm not much good at it! In this case I did remove (very badly) some bushes behind the head, but I didn't get as far as dealing with sensor dust and the bush on the right. When I get Silkypix Pro I'll try and ...

why would I
I wonder if we're seeing a small jpeg shot in camera here ? No offence meant here James, but if you don't know how to sharpen I'm guessing you have little experience, so you may be unaware that a "RAW" file refers to a file of pure data from the camera sensor & has not been processed by the camer...
