Pentax K-3 Sensor cleaning advice needed
check first if the mark is indeed on the sensor, not on the lens, if it is use a blower and clean the sensor using a sensor cleaning kit. I recommend Sensor Swabs by Photographic Solutions and the Orbit Hepa Blower. Make sure to turn off the camera while cleaning and check if the mark is gone after ...

Pentax K-3 Sensor cleaning advice needed
its on every image since, no matter what lens, so must be on the sensor. If its on every image since your lens change, its certainly on the sensor, easy to clone out thou. A DIY wet sensor clean isn't something to worry about, easy to do, purchase the right size of swab and the cleaning fluid, da...

Pentax K-3 Sensor cleaning advice needed
I wouldn't recommend this for the faint of heart or hard of wallet, but I have considerable success with a vacuum hoover and hand blower.... Put camera into sensor cleaning mode so the mirror locks up, hold camera upside down, turn hoover on and rest hoover nozzle just outside of the camera, bet...

Shift Lenses
Thanks for the suggestions, but, does anyone on the forum own the Lensbaby lens cited in my original post? I can't find any mention of Lens babys on here since 2014. There's a review here: http://uk.pcmag.com/lensbaby-composer-pro-ii/72401/review/lensbaby-composer-pro-ii I still say it isn't a s...

What's the best megapixels?
It depends on the sensor size. For me 16mp seems about right for aps-c (think k5iis). Fwiw i have a k3 (24mp) which i am perfectly happy with.

What's the best megapixels?
A 300mm lens plus the ability to crop dramatically for wildlife works for me in good light with 24mp APS-C. I guess 20mp might be the sweet spot for low light with current Sony sensor technology and Pentax tweaks.

What's the best megapixels?
It all depends on what you want them for because it's not the mega pixles for me but the processor and to me the best one was in the k10 Do you mean sensor rather than processor?

What's the best megapixels?

What's the best megapixels?
Yes, maybe. I think that for a number of years now, for many of us, money spent on better lenses would reap more rewards than the same amount spent on a better sensor. But if you already have all the best glass, then you might as well get a K1 or KP!

K-1 owners: Have you gotten rid of your APS-C equipment?
Very interesting thread as I've been considering a K-3 myself. A very good point about the two sensor sizes being suitable for different tasks. Mentally I've seen the K-3 as top of the APS-C range, but am forgetting that it was released in 2013 and the K-3II refresh model has come out since, an...

K-1 owners: Have you gotten rid of your APS-C equipment?
I've only had the K-1 for less than a week, but I don't see myself selling off my crop sensor bodies. I think they each have their strengths and will use them all often.

K-1 owners: Have you gotten rid of your APS-C equipment?
The best bit about my Pentax story was that it started with complete chance. For many years I had desired a decent camera and had always heard the term 'SLR' used to refer to the best cameras. I did a bit of research on them while I was at uni (~ 2010) but the prices were wayyyy out of my reach. ...

Which DSLR to buy?
The only other price wise comparable features camera would be the Panasonic G85 but that is mirrorless and micro four thirds so normal low light photography won't be as good as Pentax. G85 video is better than the K70 as far as clarity goes, however it is a bit flat or hazy at times as it has a smal...

Advice sought for a trip to Oz
Very old topic that few agree on. Personally I find a lens hoods help keep out flare, offer knock protection and often improve contrast. Lens caps offer the best protection when lens not in use. A good camera bag is excellent protection too. Rocket blower before severe dust cleaning good too. ...

Advice sought for a trip to Oz
Hi Howard Long time no see/ speak. I fear to tread on the ground that is filter rights an wrongs, however, whilst I have not had much on the water photo experience what I have learned is that if you are close enough to the water while whale watching (or anything else) then I would use a UV fil...

Pentax K1 continous auto focus in live mode
it doesn't have it, does it? Just to confirm it (I don't use LV so I am not an expert with it) According to page 53 of the manual the modes available are: Face Detection (Detects and tracks faces of people. The main face detection frame for AF and AE is displayed in yellow.) Tracking (Tracks...

Architectural photography
I spent yesterday on a day course with one of the country's top architectural photographers, Martine Hamilton-Smith. Not sure what I would pick up but it was a real eye-opener and explains why she charges what she does for commissions. First, once the shot is set up using a tripod with a geared head...
