Anyone had any experience with SRS?
Looking at his photos in light room and after a rally stage the pictures get a dark line a third across the image when the f stop is above 8. I assume he got the camera dirty because a couple of the images are with a car splattering mud. He took the lens off to clean it. Got dust on the sensor t...

sd card question.
Yet... Can't you see Richard holding his breath? :o I've gone blue waiting... No major video changes since the K-30, which took two steps forward with full manual control, and then 1 step (at least) back by removing the sensor stabilisation. NOTHING of significant note since then, and cer...

Anti aliasing simulator filter
It's interesting, isn't it, that the 'AA Filter Simulator' (a function using the sensor shake technology) was introduced with the K3, the model immediately after the two K5II / K5IIs models. These offered a clear choice ... But you either had a (real) AA filter or you didn't....too late once you'd ...

Anti aliasing simulator filter
P.S. Sometime, when reviewing image on the rear screen, some moire will show up because the screen resolution isn't high enough. It doesn't mean moire will show up on the picture. Exactly. And vice versa I presume. I expect you'd need to zoom to 100%, if that is an option on the rear screen? (-...

Wish me luck
What a nice event to be shooting at... An iconic venue. But cramped and as dark as the black hole of Calcutta. Gig photography is very difficult (But far from impossible) with a crop sensor camera due to the high levels of noise they produce. in low light situations. . The biggest problem you will...

Wish me luck
A bit late now but I wish you luck. I've only shot bands in dark venues with my K3 and I remember thinking that my previous DSLR, a K200D (same sensor as the K10D) would never have managed it either in terms of ISO or AF. I remember I was at ISO 1600-3200 (sometimes more) and f/2.8 to get decent s...

Ah, yes lads. If you used to use 35mm film (or, like Kris, never stopped using it) then I'm sure it'll be a welcome return but lots of younger folks are used to seeing the world through APSC sized viewfinders then the wider view might take some getting used to. I can't remember the last time I even ...

A beginners question but When to recharge a battery.
I think all the power is being drawn by the Sensor, especially with the 10-stop, increasing exposure times by x1000, Live View has to be used rather than the viewfinder as you can see not a lot once the big stopper is on the front of the lens (alternatively compose and focus before fitting filter -...

this will be intresting
Sorry Stu, can't play ball too much :) I don't personally see the value in those particular 'out the camera' aims .... To me the camera is the tool I use to try and capture the most quality image data the sensor is capable of .... With the most dynamic range, best exposure value and sharp where n...

Bullshit aside.... Abstract etc is fine but like the op said post the original as well... What have you got to lose? I don't really do 'abstract', but I believe my images require my computer processing in order to achieve two aims ... 1) extract the full potential of the sensor (especially for deman...

The OPs post is quite irking! The whole process of photography, be it film or digital, is entirely about manipulation after the the image has been taken. The naysayers will point to reversal film, yet users of that medium oft chose a particular emulsion based upon its rendering. Likewise colo...

RAW files actually do quite a bit of processing, unbeknown to us. They correct for lens defects more often than we might surmise. Not so much on DSLR lenses, but CSC lenses are something else. Regardless RAW files offer the output with the most information and least processing and compression applie...

Macro filter
Although I have a 100mm macro lens I don't always want to be carrying it around, so I decided to try a macro filter which as well as being slipped into the bag also has the advantage of not having to change lenses and exposing the sensor in the field. The one I chose is the Marumi DHG Achromat Macro...

Is this a good deal please?
Agreed. K-30 > K-5II I'd consider quite an upgrade too. I have both - they are both great cameras and have points for and against. Results are the same. However think if I was after something cheap but good I'd look at the Ks1 too, looks to have a few modern features and decent sensor.

Worthy Pursuit?
I've still got a 6mp K100D which is similar to an *ist. I still use it and for web viewing it's fine, producing lovely, bright, sharp pictures. I'd try to add an 18-55 standard zoom, available for less than £50 second hand. This will give you more flexibility. The main thing is to shoot RAW to ma...

Worthy Pursuit?
The *istD is a cracking piece of kit. Having a CCD sensor and able to produce some excellent images. I'm not too sure about the lenses you mention other than the Pentax. Be aware of flare and use a lens hood where possible. Even the cheap rubber collapsible types are good. Don't waste time lookin...

This is not an add. It is real.
Hi, I am writing this to show how contrary to the trouble some of you had with Pentax (Rico) in England it can be done by the Australian sole Pentax Agent C.R.Kennedy in Melbourne. I owe a Pentax K5 and a k5IIs. The K5IIs suddenly developed a fault: The autofocus was badly hunting. It finally lo...

Interesting article on printer inks
The Guardian article I linked to above on the HP 'fix' inferred an extra download to fix the problem. Many users will have no idea about this. I selectively buy Canon printers a generation behind to avoid current cartridges yet to be cloned. I find multi use printers fine as they get used more in be...
