Some Rare Pentax Items at MrCad..... good prices
Hi Simon - I use the SMCA 28 f2.8 on occasion and quite like it! Especially as a small and unobtrusive lens for street shots. It's pretty sharp almost from wide open and on APS-C sensor is almost the perfect standard lens (at 42mm equiv). The downside compared to a real standard lens is that ...

Leaving Pentax
In the latter case £1500 might be all there is to spend, or even less. Of course, but such people would hardly be trying to get into FF digital in the first place. For those who want to save money I recommend a K100DS with Pentax 50/1.2 and Vivitar 28/2 lenses. Take first-class shots for a few hu...

Leaving Pentax
Why would anybody want to move from a 14.6Mp APS-C sensor to a 12.?Mp FF sensor?

Leaving Pentax
Doubtless someone more technically minded than me will be along in a moment but as I understand it it's not just the number of pixels it's they are arranged and their density that delivers quality. By having larger sensors (or whatever they) to catch the light which the FF will give you'll get bette...

Leaving Pentax
Why would anybody want to move from a 14.6Mp APS-C sensor to a 12.?Mp FF sensor? This FF sensor gets you less noise a) because there are fewer pixels and b) because they are larger. FF retains more detail in the images than APS-C by a significant margin, just as MF trumps FF. That seems important to...

Leaving Pentax
Am I correct? if Pentax were to make a FF camera then only the old 35mm lenses would work on it as all the new DA lenses are only made for the smaller sensor, which would mean there would have to be a new set of lenses to go with it, just curious.

Leaving Pentax
Some are FF already, although not advertised as such and others are reduced APS-C format. Pentax has a huge back catalogue of quality lens design, so I would guess that if a FF frame camera is planned then the appropriate range of lenses would be in the wings ready. I think there are three proble...

What would you do now
What would you say are the ways in which it is "much" better? Image quality is much better. Just as the jump from the *istDS to the K10D brought a real jump in quality, the K20D gives a similar jump to a new much higher level. The Premium JPEG setting, with relatively little compression, gives ...

What would you do now
it may be a very personal thing. I think so too, I would say the K-7 is much better, and possibly what the K20D should have been in the first place considering it looks like they havent really done anything to the sensor IQ sensor wise. Pentax seem to have upgraded the rest of the body to bring it i...

What would you do now
George I really don't agree with the above. I tried to say, in the nicest possible way, my reasons for changing systems and that I will still be keeping my K20. Why does it matter to you that I change? Paul Actually, I didn't think you gave any very convincing reason for wanting to change. You sa...

k7 v k20 for noise
If the K-7 now has more noise than the K20D is it do to the Sensor tweaks that Pentax did before the camera went on sale? EDIT: missed letters:oops:

k7 v k20 for noise
Having just bought the K20D I've no intention of buying the K7 but like others I'm interested in how it stans up against the competition. I've also read quite a few reports on K20D performing better as high iso - I think we'll probably have to await the "official" test to be sure though. When I ...

The K7 has the same sensor as the K20D. You're not going to see a massive difference. Sorry George but the K7 does not have the same sensor as the K20D. The same size and pixel count/density maybe, but it has been totally redesigned having 4 read channels compared to the K20D's 2 channels. The...

k7 v k20 for noise
The sensor was modified again between pre-production models, like that which Unlocker was using for 2 weeks , and the production models on sale now. The preproduction models had an adapted K20D sensor with four channels so that it could handle movie mode and the FPS.

Maybe you can't see the point & that's your perogative entirely which I respect. Periodically I pop over to Depressingreview to see what's going on. Predictably, there's a whole load of people coming up with silly tests which don't compare like with like, and anyway, everybody is interpreting the r...
