CPPAA

Something like: CMOS - Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor Image Sensor. There are two semiconductor technologies used in digital camera image sensors: CMOS and CCD. It has been common practice to (incorrectly) refer to the type of image sensor by the technology used. Maybe add a ...

Why did you choose Pentax?

I can’t really remember why I bought my k1000 – in 1981 I think – but it got some heavy use! I still have it but the shutter’s a bit tired. It was the sheer build quality of the old k1000 that meant when considering a DSLR there was no doubt in my mind about buying another Pentax. (The k1000 has ...

Interesting Olympus

Isn't the Sigma DP1 or something very much like this with a clip on viewfinder? Has a decent sized sensor as well. Mike

Interesting Olympus

Must admit I've not noticed any rumblings about it on Oly forums, not that I frequent them as much these days. But if it is released it would make a seriously good compact tool (4/3 sensor in a compact package) :)

What will you pay for a New K7D then.

Perhaps Terry you should wait before you buy your Canon to see what the new Pentax might be? If the new Pentax is a full frame sensor, I'll be on the look-out for the glut of second-hand, cheapo lenses that will be coming on the market!

RAW & CS3

Malcolm, The RAW format is not just a binary dump of the sensor data. There is a huge amount of EXIF data, plus the embedded JPG. Check out http://thomer.com/howtos/embedded_jpg.html and http://www.rawworkflow.com/rawworkflowcom-download-page/ Can't remember off-hand what size or quality the...

What to take on holiday

If you will be recording mostly memories of the holiday, holiday snaps in other words, I'd probably take just the K100D and 18-55mm. If it gets lost or damaged, they are the cheaper items to replace. Your DA 17-70mm will give you slightly more range of course. You'll also get more images on a car...

Pentax service...

One thing forgot to mention in OP - the K10D seems better than before in that they have re-aligned the sensor so what is horizontal in viewfinder is also horizontal in the picture. Also the back focus problem is not as bad. Andy

Water droplet... WOW

Hi Amin, The following link may help a bit. Basically you have an infra-red beam transmitted to a sensor LED that is connected to a trigger circuit. When something interrupts the beam (eg water drop or insect), the trigger circuit is activated and will then send a signal to fire, eg, a flash...
