what to pay

If you're using it on a DSLR, you won't see the full fisheye effect as the sensor is smaller than the 35mm frame the lens was designed for. £50 just for the lens or for the converter as well? Either way, probably a bargain (definitely if it includes the converter!). Dan

what to pay

Thanks, George. The fisheye is a puzzle. I have read a review that states it is a deffinate fisheye, yet when I try it out there is not much evidence of any distortion, just a slight drunken appearance to the lamp posts. Don't have much idea, though. Thought it might be a useful everyday lens....

AF.C focusing, full explanation please

As an example here, if the Drive Mode, "Continuous Hi" is chosen in the Fn menu (aka machine gun mode, :) ok I just made this up), and if you have the focusing mode set for AF.C and shot a subject keeping your shutter release button completely pressed, would the focusing still track the moving subje...

AF.C focusing, full explanation please

That mode always makes me laugh... at myself... When I first started out I read the manual on how AF-C worked and though it was the most magical invention. I mean, how could the camera be smart and fast enough to track a moving object. Oddly, every time I went out and tried all I got was out of fo...

Polarizer Querry

I have a big 72mm Circular Polarizer filter that I was thinking of selling as I have not used it in 10+ years. But I noticed when cleaning it it has flecks in it, almost like the coating has come off. Is this what has happened? The coating come of and is it worth selling it or binning it?

Der Spiegel

I am sure this has been discussed before somewhere but back in the days of film SLRs, the only way to accurately see the image to be photographed was via a mirror reflecting the scene onto a screen in a viewfinder. So, why in this digital age should the mirror be retained as it is a very simple matt...

EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens) such cameras are called and not SLR (Single Lens reflex). I'm with all that went before me and say that they aren't there yet. The refresh rate is one of them it isn't fast enough and also dark light performance isn't that great, haven't tried the...

it would mean they need a new lens series to make the most out of it There already is a new lens series available admittedly not with Pentax written on them, yet ;) With dropping the mirror you will not gain a size reduction of the camera since the lens still needs to have the right distance from...

Andrew, sorry it didn't come over correctly. I was trying to say that if they would go for an EVIL camera they need to have a new lens series so that can be used with the shorter distance between lens and sensor. Most of us are with pentax for their glass and I don't see that many would buy the s...

Samsung are busy now with an hybrid system, APS-C sensor without a mirror. I believed Pentax said they had no interest in such system at the moment. What I was hinting at Stefan was how a G1 would ease one's hand baggage allowance when flying on your country's national airline ;) Yes but buyin...

The EVIL cameras are presently stuck with "contrast detect AF", since there is no mirror to send the image to the AF sensor, so AF is not as fast. Just try an electronic viewfinder at a sporty event, and you'll see what I mean.

Cleaning a sensor is childs pay if you have the right tools. I've no idea what these people charge but I would bet return on investment in the tools (Rocket blower, Arctic Butterfly, Pec-Pads + Eclipse-2 fluid) is very fast. Get the tools and do it yourself, just be careful.

K7 Problems ?

It's the old situation where users that have problems do tend to make it known more than users that are happy campers. I'm not necessarily saying there is anything wrong with that, it's just the way it is. As a side note, of the three forum members (that includes me) that picked up their K-7 fro...
