New pentax models
I am assuming of course that the new camera will have an APS-C sized sensor. If not, I and several others here have perhaps wasted a lot of money on DA lenses. :D This is what was concerning me in particular! Is it worth spending money on DA lenses to find that they may only have a short shelf l...

New pentax models
There is not a glimmer of a chance that Pentax will produce a 35mm sized DSLR. Their view is that if people want a larger sensor, they should move up to the 645D. The new DA lenses do in fact cover an image circle a bit larger (in some cases a lot larger) than the APS-C sensor, so a SLIGHTLY lar...

Good bye Pentax! Forever?
I'm turning semi-professional and my requirements is a mid-range DSLR. What is your definition of a mid-range DSLR as you percieve it ? Mid-range in what particular characteristic ? Capabilities, price, support, repairs, sensor size, range of lenses available ? Can you be (much) more specific.

Hi Simon johnriley wrote: I routinely supply A3 sized pictures at 300dpi and they look fine, certainly more than good enough to go to print. You can only do this with a 6mp camera by creating pixels that weren't orginally there As you would have to with an 8mp sensor. That works out at...

Good bye Pentax! Forever?
I can't comment much on all the 'techy' stuff of digital capture relating to sensor size, numbers of pixels, software capabilities etc... but do reckon that far too many people nowadays are pre-occupied with what the camera computers can do, along with the back-up software for post processing. It s...

Is what you're saying is I could get a 1mp camera, then using photoshop, blow the image up to 16x12" 600dpi BMP image, that would be better than say a DL's image being blow up to 16x12" 300dpi JPG cos that's just silly. That is silly, and you may notice that's not what I said, nor implied...

That is silly, and you may notice that's not what I said, nor implied. I told you what I meant... so perhaps you should re-read it ;) Perhaps clarifying you position would help. Are you referring to file compression? Cos that WILL affect quality. It's not just Canon. The only odd one out is the S...

Like I said, Pentax 6Mp have 6.1 million photosites - EXACTLY the same as the Nikon D100, D70 etc. (Because it's the same Sony-made CCD sensor.) So, like all the rest, they have 1/2 green, 1/4 red, 1/4 blue. D100 has 10.2mp not 6.1 Matt is quite correct. The Nikon D70, D100 and D50 all have 6.1Mp,...

Matt is quite correct. The Nikon D70, D100 and D50 all have 6.1Mp, and use the same sensor as the *ist D, DS(2), DL(2). It's the (rather pricey) Nikon D200 that has 10.2 Mp, and presumably the same sensor as the eagerly awaited 10.2 Mp Pentax DSLR will have. Indeed the D100 does have 6mp and not the...

Ok, this is beginning to get out of hand... And I'm getting bored too :P Now, if anyone had bothered to do any research you'll find this (which is what I was saying all along): http://www.alamy.com/contributors/stock-photography-technical-criteria.asp Note for images from digital cameras -...

And really absolutely finally . . . The full frame (35mm) Contax N something or other (N1 I think) is a 6MP camera and only a very few short years ago cost something like £4500.00 for just the body. The sensor apparantly cost Contax £2500.00 or some such huge amount. I'm sure that if I were a pro, a...

It was a very old and shaggy victorian shop front, very small and had not beed painted since about the 12th century. There was a small 4 foot wide window either side of the door. I looked in the left hand side one. There were about 4 or 5 tatty chipboard shelves with cameras and lenses liberally ...
