Recommended suppliers of equipment
Not a recommendation for kit as such (I don't think they stock Pentax) but for sensor cleaning. If you are in East London/Essex/Kent T&B photographic in Romford offer the service for £30 APS-C. The lady was apologising for not being able to offer the usual "same day" service but I could collect tomo...

Digital cameras as home electronics
Somebody once described a zoom lens as a dust-pump. Every time the lens moves backwards and forwards it sucks air in at one end and out at the other. Of course the same applies to focussing, too. It is a mistake to think that poor design/construction is to blame for the dust-pumping. If the ...

Cleaning the camera
Do you think a blower the type for air-mattresses would be too much for the istD?

Cleaning the camera
I would think so. It's a fair bit of pressure coming out of the hose.. think how long it would take to blow up an air bed with a little dust blower, and you can guess the difference. I'd stick to slow but sure myself. BTW, you forgot to put http:// before the link for the image, he...

Cleaning the camera
No problem JC, without that, the browser is looking for an image inside the pentaxuser domain to display. The http:// bit makes it look to the whole of the www for it. Cheers Liam

Ideas for new pentax models..
if you shake your canons you can hear a little rattle. that would be a ballbearing that sits inside a little geo-dome-like buble full of electrical contacts. rotate the camera and the little ball rolls around makeing a closed circiut where ever it lands. my two requests would be this: my canons ...

Mains Adapter
I got one similar to this: from Seven Day Shop, obviously, only £9.99 + p&p. This looks like an updated model, but it has the 6.5v output required for my istD, assume the DL has the same requirement. Mine's been fine, although only really used it when sensor cleaning and updating firm...

Digital remote viewfinder devices..
Hi all, There have been a couple of recent threads, this one.. https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2875 and.. https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2845 for instance, about Zigviews and various other bits of kit to remotely see through the viewfinder. Well, ...

Just a pictutre or two
Tim, Are you sure the lens isn't stopping right down - I hate to tell you this, but I think your sensor needs a clean. The images have quite a few specks of dirt showing, and being this defined would suggest that you were using a small aperture - you probably wouldn't notice them at all at 'norm...

How autofocus works..
Hi all, thought this might be of some use.. http://travel.howstuffworks.com/autofocus3.htm might get someone a better picture if speed is of the essence.. :D Also, where it mentions a horizontal sensor strip, on the DSLRs Pentax use horizontal and vertical sensors arranged in crosses ...

Dual systems
Well after much contemplating I have decided I am going to have a dual camera setup with both Canon and Pentax. I have not wanted to stop using Pentax cameras because they have such nice bodies and lenses but I also find the Canon cameras very well thought out, fast and easy to use. You can really ...

Dual systems
I can forgive the istDS for slightly noiser AF or jpegs. The camera sits so well in the hand and the control layout is good, even without 2 wheel controls for shutter/aperture. Added to that is a good viewfinder and backward lens compatibility. At this stage, I do not need anything more from a dS...

do you ever find yourself wishing......
there was a way to put a digital sensor in your K1000? To have control simplicity and match needle metering with digital recording? or is it just me?

Pentax Pinhole cameras
(especially when using a pin hole - don't ask!). Sorry Matt couldn't resist picking up on this from the sensor cleaning thread.. and I just HAVE to ask. Are we to understand that you have converted a body cap into a pinhole lens? What is the world coming to, state of the art digital pinhole came...

Pentax Pinhole cameras
Are we to understand that you have converted a body cap into a pinhole lens? What is the world coming to, state of the art digital pinhole cameras, is this another PENTAX first? Yup :D I took a body cap, drilled a hole a couple of mm in diameter in the centre, took some fine copper foil and mad...

Pentax Pinhole cameras
Focus isn't that brilliant, even though DoF is huge. (One webpage mentioned that it was down to the fact you really need the pinhole closer to the sensor??) I would guess that that's down to diffraction, and the comparatively large size of the hole (aperture) compared to the sensor. Distance to the...

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?
The most interesting camera I own is a 1924 medium format Kodak vest pocket model B. My grandad give it to me and was very impressed when I loaded it up with film and took a few family snaps But boy did it need cleaning out. The camera that is!!

Theorizing about future product.
"Somebody" "somewhere" "mentioned" that a higher end DSLR between the 645 and the K10D was being worked on - a lesser model too, but that's for another thread. A larger sensor for this camera was supposed. If this is indeed true, perhaps the [K1D] would use a 645 ...

Theorizing about future product.
The upcoming DA* lenses are apparently designed with an image circle that only overs an APS-C sensor. This would seem to suggest that Pentax don't intend using a larger sensor in the short-medium term.
