how many Q owners?
I bought mine in January from Paxtons in Parramatta and haven't looked back. It does everything and in some cases more that the bigger mirror cameras. I can walk around with it my pocket an carry it all day. I am going to use it to tour Britain in August. I highly recommend the Q especially for q...

how many Q owners?
Thanks John. Well we might not have tried that one but have tried similar experiences, eg liveview on the K-5 for instance and other compacts so we know of the problem first hand. If the general consensus of users say its no issue at all with the Q and framing pictures is a doddle - the screen is...

how many Q owners?
Picked mine up last night, not had much of a chance to test it yet (apart from a few test shots), but initial impressions are very positive. The first thing that struck me (aside from just how small it is), is the build quality. Beautifully constructed, it feels great in the hand. The dials are a...

So what can we expect from the Q?
I would expect this to sell... very well.... Urgh! Mind you I would not put it past them producing this..... Accessories or other bits? K-mount adapter that will at least talk to DA lenses (or any lens without aperture ring), as for birding, putting the Sigma 105mm Macro, or DFA 100 macro would...

So what can we expect from the Q?
The one I'm waiting for is the Adapter K for Q. Enabling the use of K mount lenses seems an interesting idea. The pinhole lens will also be a possibility. Yes, I know I could make a pinhole camera any time I wanted to, but I never seem to have the time. The Q seems to be inclusive of people wh...

K mount micro lense
Oh I see. Well, as the adapter is going to mean manual focus only there seems to be quite a bit of potential there. Also bear in mind the 5.5x crop factor, so it may be that a 35mm Macro (200mm equivalent approx) could be as far as we need to go. A 100mm macro would have an equivalent angle of view ...

The Best and the Coolest....
I love a Forum! I think you're "struggling" John X, but I'll let it go... It's more that "photography" as a whole is being challenged, what is it... how is it done.... Those of us who came it through two dimensional "prints" or projectible "slides" are outdated now that most photography (in t...

Pentax K-01 Hands-on Review
I watch the DigitalRev videos all the time, and although Kai is a Leica Fanboy, and most of the reviews are CaNikon, he does have a respect for Pentax, although he does keep harping on that no-one buys them. In fact the pancake lens test back in Feb, the 40mm Limited trounced the other Pancakes fr...

Time Lapse Video
My version of timelapse consists of using a CCTV Camera and a Winfast capture card using an economical codec, capturing what I want then playing it back at 256 to 1024 x normal speed

Another Pentax Q Case
A word of warning. I ordered one of these cases from Amazon and a GEM branded one arrived apparently 'to fit a Pentax Q. You will not be surprised to know it was sent straight back! Dave

Adjusting the White Balance Manually, K-01
You could try putting the camera in manual focus mode and that may do the trick. Probably the shutter won't release because the blank card is nothing that can be focused on.

Adjusting the White Balance Manually, K-01
You are right John Riley, the shutter does release in Manual. I am using a commercial (Gray) White Balance card having a cross-hair, etc. The camera does focus. However, I see no way of adjusting the WB. The G-B-A-M grid does not appear like I am aquainted with on the K-5. The K-01 manual simpl...

Shooting legacy glass on Pentax Q - any recommendations?
I haven't seen a date for the adapater, but my guess would be perhaps around Photokina time? Macro lenses are expensive, and they are all good. How about the FA 100mm f3.5, relatively low cost, or if you want a 50mm perhaps a manual focus lens. The trouble is, these are quite rare and fetch high ...

Shooting legacy glass on Pentax Q - any recommendations?
Manual focus isn't an issue, as all the current adapters are manual I wouldn't be losing anything. I'll take a look at the Vivitar.

Shooting legacy glass on Pentax Q - any recommendations?
The K to Q adaptor (promised in Spring) requires rather more engineering including a shutter, so expect it to cost big bucks. I purchased one off ebay recently, see item no. 140635947261 (RJ Pentax PK PK-A AF DA lens to Pentax Q adapter with tripod mount aperture ring) It works just fine. It allo...

Shooting legacy glass on Pentax Q - any recommendations?
The RJ is the adapter I have. "Not sure why you believe it needs an extra shutter system, it doesn't have that and doesn't need it, the one built into the camera is all that is required. Results with a good lens are just fine and no issue with infinity focus." My apologies for trying to help. ...

How many K-01 owners here?
There will be a point where I can't resist a K-01, basically for use as a studio camera for copying and small product shots. On a tripod, using the back screen is a very effective way to set these up. I've even used the Q for this. At the moment I use the K20D for this purpose, so I don't need an...
