An 'Old Friend' back again !

I just did a VIDEO on this showing how I renovated it and some actual Old PRINTS taken with it -- you can see it here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5GYIlVvg_s

An 'Old Friend' back again !

What a great story, Pete. These 1960s SLRs look special, don't they? [quote:3496ace15f="womble"]What an excellent story. Have fun with your reunion. I wonder who has my MX which was stolen on the Paris Metro a few years back...? I don't know about that, Kris, but I'm happy to report that your old ...

LX...at last

Looks good. When I bought my LX it made all my previous gear seem more fragile and less well engineered. I had it serviced a couple of years ago (sticky mirror), which nudged me back into shooting film. John.

LX...at last

Lovely camera, definitely worth getting serviced. Definitely worth reaching to the film! The problem with the LX is the host of extra bits you might need now. Finders, screens, winders, flash stuff not to mention all the lovely compact manual focus lenses. Loads more options than with other Pen...

LX...at last

The LX system is a real pleasure to experience and use. The finder system is beautifully engineered, with a different finder for each shooting preference - big, bright, coated viewfinders - simply superb. Winder and motordrive, plus data back & bulk film back, and of course the excellent TTL OTFP (o...

LX...at last

HarrisF1 I used Ilford XP2 400 ISO with the LX. A b+w film. I sent it off to Ilford who will process it and send the negs +pictures back to you. Plus a download of the scanned negs if you wish. http://www.ilfordlab.com/

Two Rather Old and One Not So New

I am still always amazed when I see examples of modern Pentax DSLRs working with far older equipment as accessories, and producing great photographs with the combinations ..... whether its old film era lenses, extension tubes, bellows, old flash gear, our Pentax DSLRs are keeping this stuff going an...

Used bargains

You may well be correct. I'm not sure whether the rust is just rusty water from whatever box the car booter kept it in, or whether it goes further back - I know it's been dry for two or three years as that's about how long ago I bought it, but no more. There is some discolouring inside the body of t...

Used bargains

I keep looking but recent boot sales have been quite low on camera gear. I did see 3 tripods last time but all were flimsier than my cheapest backup. I didn't rate them as worth carrying back to the car, so never enquired on the price. A few charity shops in the area sometimes have some nice bits to...

Used bargains

I once bought a Canon 70-200mm L IS f4 on Ebay that was described as faulty. Apparently the seller had sold his camera body and then the lens but it was returned because it wouldn't focus on anything in close range. Obviously he couldn't test it so took the buyers word and put it on Ebay as not work...

Used bargains

From a branch of a chain of used goods shops, the best photography bargain I ever got was a Canon EOS 300 (old plasticky film SLR) with a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 for €25. It's nice to have film cameras with really good AF but I prefer manual focus cameras and sometimes think I should sell it off to ge...

Used bargains

I never see cameras in charity shops any more. My wife bought me an MX from one for £5 once (its in another thread on here several years back). We eventually had it serviced and gave it to her niece as I already had two.

Pentax stereo

Thanks John ... I've remembered another one I liked back then in my Viewfinder. This was images of the new Boeing 747, called the"Jumbo Jet", and I remember a great 3D shot looking through the giant open "mouth" of the cargo version. Also a great shot with a low viewpoint along the length of the win...

Pentax stereo

There's a lot of interesting stereo stuff on ebay going back to the 1800's. Just put "(stereo,3D) viewer" in the search box and select the "Cameras & Photography" category. There's no reason why you couldn't just print any stereo pair and view them with or without a viewer. Some of the best I've ...

Pentax stereo

I have a Pentax K50 and a stereo converter. I also have a 3D W3 camera to produce 3d images. I use software STPHMKR to process and edit the results. To view them I used to print them out side by side and view through antique viewers from Ebay. Then I found Brian May's site, London Stereo, and bought...

Worlds first auto-focus SLR

i have been after one of these for a while for my collection. This one is in tip-top condition and everything works. Just got to run some film through it, then complain about how bad the AF is !

Worlds first auto-focus SLR

I bought one new when they came out. Didn't use the 35-70mm much due to the weight, but the FOCUS leds were great with a manual lens. Even told you which way to turn the lens. Best focusing of any manual Pentax because you didn't need much to focus on it could focus on soil or grass easily. There...

Worlds first auto-focus SLR

I've got two bodies (AF works on one) and two lenses (AF used to work on both but ones stopped working). Haven't used them in anger (the camera battery door is almost impossible to open) but seeing the AF drive the lens to perfect focus on the spit-image is a bit eerie - even if it is a bit slow.
