Back in the day I'd have given an eye for a super or programA.......... I wonder how many modern cameras will still be functioning in 30 years time. +1 (athough I'm not sure I'll still be functioning in 30 years!)

Back in the day I'd have given an eye for a super or programA. I doubt if these old eyes would get me half a K3 now. Lovely craftsmanship not like the made in China junk we have to put up with nowadays. I wonder how many modern cameras will still be functioning in 30 years time. That's what we thou...

K series love
Beautiful, I lust after the K50 f1.2! I have the K85/f1.8 and its a lovely piece of glass, so compact yet well built, like a tank! I was lucky to pick up the 1.2 attached to a fairly worthless body. The seller didn't realise what they had. It wasn't dirt cheap, but cheaper than it should have bee...

K7 and AF-540 FGZ
Thankyou Daron, Peter and Stuart ..... The images are an important component in making the guide more involving and keeping focus on the process being covered. And I hope that for once it will be refreshing to read a 'book' (its not quite a book :o ) that showcases our lovely Pentax equipment ... Le...

Pentax Lens Poster
Difficult to make them all out in the poster/posting, but... Since the 90's I've owned a new version of every Pentax PK lens made, even some of the Ricoh glass going back into the 80's, better yet - still have the solar pentaprism (and rechargeable powered) Ricoh XR-S. I also make an effort to tr...

Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 8 element version with original hood and a 500 Spotmatic
I believe there is no different in quality. the 8 element was to expensive to make and the back element stuck out further. So Pentax redesigned the optics and came up with the 7 elements. The advantage of the 8 element lens is that it is of course more rare and fetches a higher price. Reg...

Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 8 element version with original hood and a 500 Spotmatic
The 8 element variant can be identified on the location of the infrared focus mark: The mark is to the right of the numeral 4 on the DOF scale Regards, Horst

Pentax Advertising - the 1970s
The MX wasn't just for carrying around and shooting, for more scientific or industrial use it could take a bulk film back and a high speed motor drive, hence the rubberised silk shutter. I've still got my MX.

Currently being serviced.
It was OK beforehand but I sent it to Eric Hendrickson for a CLA so it should be perfect when it gets back.

An 'Old Friend' back again !
I got back an 'Old Friend' the other day -- my ORIGINAL Asahi Pentax S3 bought for £87 in 1961 in a Camera Shop in Barking, Essex !! I had sold it to a bloke over 30 years ago and he said " It was not Working any more" -- when he brought it round it looked Very Sad -- the lens was COVERED in DUST ...

An 'Old Friend' back again !
Fantastic that you can give this special camera the love it needed. Now it's back in shape who knows: another 30 years of service?

What a great story, Pete. These 1960s SLRs look special, don't they? What an excellent story. Have fun with your reunion. I wonder who has my MX which was stolen on the Paris Metro a few years back...? I don't know about that, Kris, but I'm happy to report that your old K10D is still working well.
