Worlds first auto-focus SLR

the camera battery door is almost impossible to open Same problem with this one, and apparently a common fault with the ME-F. My solution was to just loosen the two closest baseplate screws about 3/4 turn and the door pops open easily. Make sure you use JIS screwdrivers to avoid damaging the hea...

My Takumar Collection

I once saw them described as "little jewels" - which seems very appropriate :D Mine are almost 50 years old, but still the focus is buttery smooth...

My Favourite Pentax Cameras

Nice to see you back on PU Mike! Great camera collection👍 My favourite would be the 1957 camera - what a beauty!

My Favourite Pentax Cameras

Think my all time favourite is my old lx I use to have paired with the tamron Ron sp200 back then brilliant sports combo followed closely by the k10 with the 70/200 tamron attached

Pentax bellows

I do like a nice bit of kit, and this certainly qualifies. I guess you can also copy negative film and create positive images in Photoshop or similar. The slide copier comes with a film-strip holder. I'm travelling at the moment but I'll have a play when I get back.

Pentax bellows

No, there are two of them on the slide copier and they are both decidedly "captive" to the unit. I just checked mine. One thing that gets overlooked with this is the connector for the cable release. If you are using a tripod and an auto lens with a DSLR you can focus wide open and then push the ...

Nice set, I wouldn't mind collecting these beauties myself, but I would feel bad not to use them, so... (but I still have my K1000 from way back when - not that I ever used it much).

Apart from the K which is out of action, they all get used. The 110 had a film in it when I took that picture. I tr...

Ah nostalgia ain't what it used to be... Nice models! How did the inserts work on the LX (sorry for the ignorance :?) You can replace the LX standard back with the data back. Inside the LX is a small rotating blind which blanks off one corner of the negative. When you take a photo, a light impri...

Vivitar 2x teleconverter

I bought this on Ebay about four years ago but at the time I wasn't happy with the sharpness of the results so it has stayed in the cupboard, until now. I decided to experiment with it on the 100mm macro handheld in the garden and the last two with a HD DFA 150-450mm on a tripod at 450mm from an ups...

Copy stand P again

Some time ago I purchased a Pentax copy stand P ( . This is a collapsible copy stand that I thought might be useful for the work I do. Here is the beast: par , on ipernity par , on ipernity par , on ipernity par , on ipernity Although I have had it for a few ...

Copy stand P again

I've often wondered what that rail came off. I have the larger variety (on the left) which I use on a tripod. It happily supports a K1 with a macro rig. I think the larger one was sold (was also sold?) as a separate focus rail --- John R. may know. I bought mine as a stand-alone thing, but that was...

Pentax MX and a SMC Pentax 15mm f/3.5.

I still have & use my 15mm. Way back in the day (1992) I used the 15mm on an MX and LX extensively in the Wadi's in Oman loaded with Ektachrome and Kodachrome. The images above show just how versatile the combo is. Thanks for posting Kris. Best regards

Little Brother and Big Brother

The beautiful Pentax MX, introduced in 1976 as professional system camera, with a range of backs, drives, flash system and of course legendary lenses. It was my first Pentax (and I was lucky enough to get it in black) so to come across this one in such beautiful condition was an unexpected treat....

A nice pair of MX's

I'd agree, the silver ones look more stylish to me. I took my near mint black KX into a Leica dealer who went giddy over the 'black paint', but he wasn't best pleased to see HP5+ in the reminder slip on the back - Tri-X all the way for him...

Pentax Zoom 90 compact film camera

I was given a Pentax Zoom 90 compact Film Camera by a Camera Club member and at last had ordered some 123 Lithiums for my 6x7, same as fit the Zoom 90 so 'gave it a go' -- it has all 'Program' exposure mode with NO readout what is happening. It does have modes for 'Flash on Flash Off' , 'B' and 'B'...
