Bad thread title though just mentioning cancellation, which it is not.

Unfortunately DPReview's forums are not the best source of information.

Development has been temporarily put on hold from what I've seen while the Hoya acquisition goes through. Although the stage that they seem to be at would be nearing production capabilities so it will hopefully only delay some lenses.

I don't think they'd stop the production of the 645D as they have been touting it for a long time.

Would be an absolute waste of R&D resources if they did cancel it and a big dissapointment. Medium format DSLRs are hard to come by and there are a fair few people looking into getting them.

I can see many good uses for this camera, especially high quality large professional printing.

I have this same question but nothing really got answered here... It would be used with K10D and K100Ds only as I doubt I'll be getting anything else for a long time...

I'd also like to know how the wireless function works and where I could get a hotshoe extension for detaching the flash in use...

The wheels are a dead giveaway, they are frozen as with a high shutter speed but the image is blurred as if it was panned a bit. The quality of that post processing isn't particularly good, if you wanted a real effect, you'd select the object, do a dragging blur (but quite soft) and then apply rotational blur to the wheels.

True, it is very difficult to compete, especially when people think that doubling pixel count doubles resolution and quality. It is actually a power 2 curve which means they you need four times the pixel count to double the resolution.

L=SQRT((M*10e-7)*5*10^5)

L is line widths per pixel height

M is millions of pixels

10MP is approximately 2250LW/PH and 6MP is 1730, so only 30% increase in resolution. It is still significant, but not what most people would expect which is a 67% increase from pixel count.

Well 10MP is important if you want to display pictures for a large audience. You can print up to 90x60cm (standard poster size) to fit a good number of people arround. Not quite up to close inspection but A2 should ok, even then if you really want a crisp perfect image A4 10MP is perfect.

10MP
Paper Density (in)
A1 100dpi
A2 150dpi
A3 220dpi
A4 300dpi
A5 500dpi

6MP
Paper Density (in)
A1 84dpi
A2 120dpi
A3 170dpi
A4 240dpi
A5 340dpi

Wow... That is a video camera!!!
Well, it would be if you could buy it
True...

Much better than the Sony HD 3CCD I saw a while ago...

Either way, what does this have to do with Pentax DSLRs?
