That looks unreal, and quite odd, bright grass and sheep with a fairly dark background blue.

Doesn't look possible to achieve, quite funny really.

The last picture is the best of the lot...

Colour support is also different, sRGB for internet and ProPhotoRGB/AdobeRGB in PS. If you don't convert the colour space before exporting it will look quite different.

I had a go at some moon shots last night as well.

I was desperate to try out a newly acquired Sigma 600mm mirror lens.

The lens was too long to get both the moon and Venus into one shot but after a lot of tweaking with the exposure this was about the best I could do with the moon:

The lens is fixed f8 and the camera was set to an ISO of 200 and an exposure of 1/20.

I think I'm going to have to wait till the end of the month for a near to full moon to achieve something better.

I found that the moon shifts in the sky quite fast and I was having to constantly adjust the tripod head to keep it in shot.

Makes me want a Bigma... Although I'd prefer something 200-500mm as I'm unsure about distortions from such a huge soom range.

That is quite a nice shot.

I've always done manual tweaking for shooting the moon but with a long enough lens it is possible to use spot metering. Having never had anything longer than 200mm equivalent on digital and 300mm on film I've not been able to play much.

You have to adjust the exposure manually as metering for single bright objects that size don't really work against a dark backdrop. If you had a 400-600mm focal length then the moon would cover enough of the frame for spot metering. You will have to fiddle around until you get the correct exposure.

Secondly, infinity doesn't always focus to infinity... It depends how well the lens is calibrated. It may need a little adjustment to get it right.

I saw this scene last night and wished I had a telescope

Can anyone advise, are close up filters and the combination of these filters any good?
Not as good a a reversed lens or dedicated macro but do quite well.

look at the equipment page and the macro shots.

Just to see the effect of a macro filter set.

Oh, it may have been a macro, But I think you'd get larger results with a reverse raing and a 50mm manual lens on the front...

My lens is manual focus, and 20 years old. So it's not worth as much as
a new one.
True, but the quality will be just as good as a new one.
For mounting on the front of the 50-200 backwards... Yes it should be very good.

I have an old SMC A 50 1.7 (might be an A50 2.0 or 1.4, not looked at it in a while and it is not with me for me to check) which I hope to use on my K10D (when it arrives(approx 10-day countdown )).

Zoom lenses are not as easy to use for reverse coupled macro work as they are more fiddly and normally don't have as large an aperture.

I was tempted by the Samsung GX-10, especially as it comes with two lenses for the same price as the K10D with one lens. I couldn't miss out on the SMC coating as I shoot outdoors most of the time and glare is a problem on my current digital camera.

Was browsing through the K-mount listings and came across this:

What a waste of money...
