Tut mowog - that`s a bit harsh !! I`ve been reading sci-fi since I was about 12 ( 51 years ago !! )and I`m certainly not classified as a moron.
Without some of the early visionaries, science would not be at the level it is now.
Arthur C.Clarke - father of the Geostationary satellite to name but one.

Remember - " anything that the human brain can conceive - humans will eventually create "
Terminator 3 has some incredible cinematography and certainly does not rely on CGI for it`s special effects.
You`re gonna love Avatar - there`s lots of Andriods in that !!

I wonder if the film might have been useful for helicopter pilots and the authorities, though, to help prevent the same thing ever happening again?
Possibly ice - but the inquiry found that the marshalls turning over the car to get him out allowed petrol from the ruptured tank to spill on to the hot exhaust, and ignite the explosion that followed.
I think Pa`s comments about the press in the chopper were similar to the revulsion we felt at the original OP - voyeuristic rather than helpful !

How very true robbie_d , and what a sad reflection on our society today. I wonder who started all this hunger for sensationalism and voyeurism ? Father was no wimp - as a Flight Lieutenant Dental Surgeon in the RAF he had to identify flight crew many times by just the teeth remaining in their heads - not for the faint hearted ! But it would never have occurred to him to "sell the pictures" of the Monaco incident as he respected ( and knew ) many of the drivers and appreciated their skill and daring in what was then a very very dangerous sport ( some would say before Sir Jackie Stewart even foolhardy ).

Many years ago ( 1967 ) my late father filmed the tragic accident which befell Lorenzo Bandini and his Ferrari at Monaco. He was using his Super 8 cine camera and always believed that the second fire was caused by the press helicopter swooping low and causing a downdraft.
By the time he had returned to the UK he realised that Bandini had succumbed to over 70% burns and died in hospital. The cine film was never developed and was destroyed.
I respected him greatly for that.........................

Sorry guys - gotta disagree .................I always liked the Optech system for its quick release and comfort but lately have preferred to use a leather hand grip or a leather wrist strap attached to a clip and one ES11 chrome triangular clip fitted to the K20D.They keep me attached to my investment and are not tiring on the shoulders or reminiscent of Japanese holidaymakers.I like big pockets to hide the beast in if it gets iffy outdoors and my old ( 25 years ?? ) CCS Warthog is a brilliant holster for serious weatherproofing or protection ( it does bounce ! )

Hi delS1 - welcome to the forum from up here on Wirral.

Great place to find information and humour is this forum.

My last foray out for motorsport was The WRC special stage at Sweet Lamb near Llanidloes in 2008 - very cold and wet and sleety and muddy and windy - but a great day out and some fairly good shots with a Pentax *istD and my lightweight Pentax 75-300 AL FAJ.
Not a lot of light about but some good action and great practice.
