I have noticed that if I use a Sigma that appears in Lightroom but some of the Pentax lens do not, I just thought that because most of my Pentax lens are old that they did not carry the necessary giggery pokery to be read by the software and indeed it may be as simple as that.

Have to say I have only recently discovered Exif and useful it is too but I am sure it will be more so when I have become more educated in reading them.

It would not be so bad if the intuitive bit actually worked but it doesn't, once looked on Google for a site that sold ladies underwear, I knew it existed but did not know the name. Google helped me find it ok but the obscene stuff I received for a while after embarrassed even me and that takes some doing.

Bet this site will now carry adverts for all sorts or unmentionable equipment sorry

Nice shots Jackie.... you were lucky and brave to get so close. No sign of any purple fringing which often appears shooting almost into the sun around water.... What lens did you use?

Why doesn't PS include the lens in the Exif?

I was shooting down which helps with the sun if not the composition

The lens was an old Pentax 28-80mm FA 3.5-4.7 that I have recently pulled the cobwebs off wondering if I would sell it. Now I have used it I have decided it is not for sale, who knows I may even find a use for the motorised zoom feature.

Not sure what happens to the Exif, sometimes it is there and sometimes it does not show or does not show everything. They were taken RAW but have only been cropped and sharpened so I have no idea what happened to it - having said that I need slap on the wrist for not saying they were taken with the K20 and the 28-80mm lens.

Yes it is, I got side tracked on my way back from the Boston docks where I had gone to do a shoot - I can't seem to keep away from birds these days.

Lightroom is designed as a organiser and catalogue not really for PP although you can do the usual things required if you shoot in RAW including very good cropping tools. If you wish to edit further using layers or making frames etc you need to send from Lightroom to Elements or CS to do this, the image will be returned to Lightroom when you have finished.

Edit: it could, of course, be that you can make frames in Lightroom and it is just that I have not found it.

Sure it is open to all members, new or not I think membership offers the same to all, it would be nice to meet as many people as possible.

Good work Paul, one wonders how someone in this situation can have such dignity perhaps it is self belief or an illusion.

I'm currently using the 28-80 Power Zoom for all my eBay pictures and it's a fantastic lens. I've seen indifferent comments about it on the Internet, but my sample bears out the excellent test result that AP published when the lens first appeared.
Think I will have another workout with the 28-80, used it as the main lens on the Z1 but not used it since using the lighter and longer Sigma 28-300 but although I found the lighter lens good on the ist on the K20 the 28-80 seems comfortable and I think a slightly better result.

You gents are so helpful, I know you can't tell me what kit I want or need but to have the encouragement to stick with something with the assurance that it should produce acceptable results even if old is both helpful and encouraging.

Thanks, yes it does work on the K20 but I don't think you can set the view taken so apart from a slow shot taken whilst zooming it seems it is of little use unless I want to drain the battery. How ever that apart I think the 100 - 300 FA may be one to keep the other is 28-80FA and I think I will have a good play with both before I decide. Have some Sigma, newer and covering the same range but although lighter I am not sure they are any better.

Very grateful for your help I think I need to put in some shooting time with all my lens before spending any money after all I may be needing a new body soon, who knows
