Thanks folks, knew it was a silly question and seemed obvious but I though I should check as I always find installing an update a bit of a worry anyway.

My Camera, K7, has been updated to V1-10 and there are three others since then. My question is do I upload all three in order or just the last one. Stupid question, but I do not know the answer.

I have been running Vista on my laptop since purchase 5 years ago and have not been aware of any issues.

Why do you consider it so bad?
I find it intrusive, and it always seems to be doing something it considers more important than the work I want to do. But it does seem that most OS do more and more whether you want it or not.

Now that is what I like, a straight forward instruction, will 8gb ram be OK? don't think I can afford to go much higher.

Well, I am amazed at the number of replies you have given me and on Christmas day. I am grateful, no longer worried about having 7 on the new equipment but am now wondering if duel systems would be the way to go and if I do go duel should it be XP & 7 or 7 & 8.

I use two PCs, one has XP and the other Vista & a Notebook running XP – they are all compatible at the moment what happens if the new one (to replace the Vista) is running 7 and/or 8 – thanks.

Oh, just one more question - what difference would 64 bit or 32 bit make to the software I can use, if any?

From what you are saying there seems no point in me buying a PC with OS 8 so perhaps it would be best to opt for the 7 at least that should be over it's teething problems.

So far I have used 95,98 ME, XP and Vista and the only one I have had real problems with since I had a Commodore 64, is the Vista, so you can see why I am worried abut moving on to the 7 or 8 and was considering even going back to XP.

Yours indecisively,

Phew! thanks that has sent my mind at rest - there is no way I could afford to buy new PC and the latest Photoshop.

Sorry to resurrect but I need to buy a new PC and I am wondering if I accept Windows 8 or insist on XP or perhaps Windows 7. Most of my software is old and I can't afford to update, those that worry me most are CS3 and Lightroom LR 1.4 - will they work or not is what I need to know please.

How did you get at the switch or did you just spray onto the switch in the squirt and hope mode with switch cleaner or something?
