Thanks for your responses.
Having just spent on adobe 6, I had expected to be better served.
My interest is in producing pictures for Camera club comps, mainly shooting RAW and then converting them to JPeg mainly for projection.
It has been straightforward in Adobe 5. Now using the RAW converter in six and the saving to JPeg.
I have been told to save to TIFF but this does not leave me with a picture to view. just some coloured square.
As you can deduce. I am not very up with computers.
How will I access the Adobe camera RAW plugin? How different will this be than the Adobe 6 RAW programme, please
regards

Since using adobe 6 to convert raw files I am getting files designated 'iff' file. Cannot recall this happening before.
Maybe it did. I am confused. What is an 'iff' file. should I save as this?
Also, when saving as a 'tiff' file as recommended, I am not left with a picture saved, rather a coloured lines file.
So! What am I doing wrong. I usually save to JPeg.

regards

How come a vegetarian sausage maker became famous?? I bet he did not use brussel sprouts in his sausages.
We remember Joan of Ark yet many men also died in similar fashion but without the same amount of recognition.
Becoming famous or notorious is not a gender thing, thank goodness.
How much better to be known for spreading happyness in our troubled land.

Aura. It really is a confidence thing. We sometimes have to grow old before we realise that it is not important what people think of us.
Photo clubs are no different to any other club. You will get a mix of people, some you will relate to, others you will wonder where they are coming from.
I have just changed clubs, simply to experience how different clubs are run. We have a young lass of fifteen who comes every week, sits through it all and never says a thing but is a good photographer and can give us oldies a run for our money in competitions.
It might be helpful to remember that most of the oldies in camera clubs started with 35mm film and then needed to print their own pictures. It bred a certain elitism. They sometimes struggle to come to terms with you younger people coming in and competing at their level. I do not say they are right but it is understandable that they feel they have lost something on the way.
I do not know but just wonder if this is where your problem comes from with the old couple in the club. Let's see what my friend can sort out but be encouraged by all the support and encouragement that is coming your way from this Forum.

Aura. I can identify with your medical condition. I, too, have struggled for 30 odd years with the depressives.
It is very individual, it is not obvious and you do your best to hide it.
Let me encourage you to be possitive and be open to people who will help you. It takes courage. I am sure that my friend Adrian will be willing to help you, if only to find you a buddy to be with you.
photography has been for me an opportunity to make friends and to gain confidence.
I am an senior citizen looking for my 80th next year. I get real help and encouragemnet from this Forum, so stick around and it will come good for you, of that I am sure.
My offer to put you in touch with Adrian still stands. PP your E.Mail address if you are interested. I will not be offended if you feel reluctant. Just willing to help.

regards Thoramay.

I have a close friend who is a Committee member. I can put you in touch with him. I know that he will make you welcome. please do not judge the club from these two miserable men.
Salisbury club is well respected in the Southern Association and will be very disappointed at your experience.
I shall be seeing Adrian here on the Isle of Wight this coming week.
If you are willing to give it another try, I will tell him of your concerns at taking a camera out on your own. I am sure he will respond and be a good tutor. He is a proffesional photographer with a keen interest in helping young people.
If you are set against another club experience, I am sure Adrian will offer you help outside of the club.
regards Thoramay.

If you fancy joining a camera club, then Salisbury has a good club there. Plenty of friends to be made and just as good advice to be had. I imagine that you will quickly gain confidence and a 'buddy' or two to join you in your camera excursions

Hi. I have just run through a 36 roll film in, what appears to be, a mint SFX.
The results come back as a failure. The film progressed through and then rewound., yet the film is completely blank.

The mirror is functioning correctly but the sync curtain does not move. Two little fingers of steel move as is to lift the curtain on firing, but nothing happens.

What is strange, at least to me, if you then put the camera in the bulb mode and fire, holding the button, the curtain raises and holds for as long as you maintain pressure on the firing button.
I have changed settings through manual, servo and single but no change.
Is this the camera or is this me???
