The lens I have been wanting for 3 months arrived today and I am excited about that.

It was my 16-45 back from repair to the jammed focus/zooom mechanisms after a little bump in September

Was it expensive to repair and is it as good as new again?
Best regards, John

The repair cost £36 inc VAT at Johnsons Photopia.

I have not yet had chance to test it in the field but the mechanisms seem free and smooth. A couple of shots of my PC monitor look sharp enough.

There is still slight cosmetic damage to the front of the filter ring caused when the camera (round my neck, with no lens cap) was sandwiched between me and a door frame as I walked down the aisle in a train running over a bit of rough track in Cornwall.

Apparently replacement parts could not be sourced but I am glad in a way because it might have been a much more expensive repair and the damage is hardly noticeable.

That's a good price for repair.

I presume it was a case of strip down, clean, reassemble, check & test.

Anyway Gary, sorry to hijack your thread but what lens are you excited about?
