I have been reading a lot lately and have a few questions for you guys that have been doing this digital stuff a while. First of all Noise is related to shutter speed and ISO. if this is not right please correct me. Slow shutter will create noise as will a high ISO. How slow is a slow shutter speed? 1/125? At what shutter speed would you expect to see noise?

What is the dividing line in ISO. For years I have considered ISO 200 normal conditions. Same question here. At what point would you expect to see noise from ISO speed?

Next. luminance and color noise. I have searched this site and others looking for examples of these and have not been able to find any. The ones that were on this site are no longer available. Would someone post some pictures that have these problems so that I may see what it looks like?

Bladerunneruk, my thought on this is that it is a generation shift. The last 20 years or so that digital format has been available the attitude is I can fix it later. The need for speed has taken over for quality. The people that look at these pictures and think that they are acceptable from a professional stand point obviously did not have to deal with an editor in the 60's or 70's. I am glad that my mentors are no longer here to see what is getting published in our newspapers and magazines.

I just discovered a major draw back to the K20D. It will not work in the cold. I went for a walk this morning along the creek. The temp. was about 10 degrees F. 15 minutes into the walk the camera would not function at all. Any ideas on how to keep it warm. Is this a trait of all digital cameras? I have seen photographers at the winter Olympics their gear seems to be working.

here is a thought if ya like playing in photoshop. Cromakey a young lady back to the wall on the left side. She should cover most of the brick wall and the rails will draw attention up to her.

James, I have used Cokin filters for 3 decades and love them. The P and PZ that you refer to are filter sizes not grades of filtering. The P is for objective lenses from 58mm to about 85mm if memory serves me right. This is what I use on my lenses that have 77mm filters. I also use them on smaller lenses with the aid of an adapter and the appropriate filter ring. You can collect a nice collection on Ebay fairly cheeply.

Here is another thought. If you are going to use this kind of filter I would recomend the P size. Simply because you can use them with smaller lenses. The A filters can not be used with a lense larger than about 68mm diamater. The PZ size was designed for very large objective lenses like in Video and Tv that are 100mm and larger.

Think of it this way, Do you enjoy looking at it? Did you have fun when you captured the image? If you did, it doesn't matter what others think.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Now dont get in an up roar but what is the photo of. The orange thing, the sky and clouds, the shadow, or even a plywood wall. All good elements just nothing to guide the eye to one of them.

If you would like an honest opinion, I see potential. However, #1 is slightly out of focus. Auto focus will do that sometimes. #2 has some bothersome lights to close to the childs head. The expression is great. #3&4 How about a vertical shot and get all of dad in the picture.
