Hello to all. Just a note to say Hi. Due to the economy I have had to put the Studio in the "stand by mode" and have taken a job that has me traveling around the state. Can you believe there is a place on this planet with no internet service. The Town House Motel in Lusk, Wyoming is one such place. Anyway, I will check in when it is possible. Next time I will have some pictures of wonderful Wyoming USA.

Onto my problem. My daughter was married yesterday and my K20D was having a fit. Taking the advice in an earlier post, I put it in full auto. I mean auto focus, auto WB, and P exposure. 2/3 of my photos were under exposed. By the way I am using a Pentax AF 360 FTZ flash. This morning I looked at all the info that the camera saves. What I noticed was that the shutter speed seemed to change radically from shot to shot. 3 seconds to 180th second under the same light. The bad part is that some of the 3 second exposures the camera set the iso at 800. They were totally blown out. Most of the under exposed were at 180th and iso 200. With the exception of the photos I did manually, the apature was 4 or 5.6 the camera did not select any other apatures. Is this what happens in low light? Out side in full sun or even on an overcast day the camera seems to function normally with exposure you would expect to see for the conditions. Is this normal for this model or should I get it checked out? The Pop up flash had similar results.

Andrew, the ground hog said 6 more weeks. Those 6 weeks have passed. You might not believe this but it is snowing today. Weather man says 8-12" by Sat. morning. This happens quite frequently, the elevation here in town is 4665 ft. It has even snowed here in August.

i-Berg, I know what ya mean about all the grey branches. That is all that is out there right now. The only thing green are the evergreens. It usually doesn't green up here until mid May. Last year I set up a Photo shoot in the city park the 16-17th of May and did not have any lilacks.

When I left the house the sun god was in my favor. However, before I reached this location, it is about a mile and a half from the end of the road, the clouds were gone and the sun was high in the sky. This old building used to be our water treatment plant. It has been out of service since the mid 1960's.

I shoot lots and lots with children. Sometimes the only difference in the shots is the position of the lips or eyes that makes the sale. Older subjects, Senior Pics, Weddings are more controled thus fewer shots needed. Rodeo's and Ropin's sometimes requires burst shooting to catch the image you want because it happens so fast. A team roping run only lasts 6-8 seconds.

Yes I have and still do shoot film. 95% of the film I still use is B&W. During the tourist season I do Reproduction of "The Old West" where tourists dress up in 1875 era clothing and pose on covered wagons, log cabins ect. That along with the fact that it is hand processed the way it was back then makes it appealing to customers. I am working on a portable dark room also. The idea here is to pick up a few bucks for letting people see how it's done.
I use digital also, however, only for about 6 months now. When I first started with digital it was embarasing to look at. Hard to look at and say here is a photographer with 30 years experience. The more I read, the more I understand. Cant say one is better than the other, but they sure are different. There are good things about both formats.

PS I hope there is a dark room in Heaven. I plan on taking my 645 and a couple of rolls of Neopan SS.

It happens that I live in a tourist area. During the spring and summer 3 million people visit Yellowstone National Park. To get there they must travel through some areas that are just as awsome to view as the park. Road side vending of Photo's set in frames sell better than trying to sell them via the internet. I sell enough that my "hobby" doesn't cost me anything out of pocket to speak. Along with that, I do Location Shoots where the customer dresses up in vintage clothing on a covered wagon or buck board. Mostly for tourists that visit our Big Horn Mountains.
It's making money just not enough to live on all year.

I checked out the link. There is not even an apple store in the state of Wyoming. The closest one is Denver, Colorado. 400 miles away. Dont want to make the trip just to look LOL.

Boy did I sturr up a hornets nest. For those that are wondering yes I do live in wonderful Wyoming, USA. Some of the finest trout fishing in the world right out my back door.

I didn't mean to cause an argument about which laptop was best or worst. I was and still am looking for information from people that use laptops.
Things they like, dislike, or would change if they purchased another. There have been some informative tips here and I thank everyone for their input.
