I have used a wide variety of Pentax lenses ( no third party) including DA*s on my Z1, all have worked as expected. l use a DA 16-45 quite a lot as it covers the full frame from about 21mm

Now if the 77mm had been black, I would have been in trouble

Peter, could the profiles themselves be possibly damaged?

looking on my PC

I have
PENTAX (SIGMA APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM) - RAW.lcp
PENTAX (Sigma_70-200mm_F2.8_II_APO_EX_DG_MACRO_HSM ) - RAW.lcp
PENTAX (Sigma_180mm_F3.5_APO_MACRO_EX_DG_HSM ) - RAW.lcp

If you send me your email address by pm, I can send them over and you could try repalcing your files.

Clutching at straws a little , but maybe worth a try.

Mac, The Af280T is a very good flash, I still use mine on the K5. you have the choice of the two Auto modes and Manual.

Hi guys, thanks for the many replies. I wasn't very clear on the focal length in my op. The problem with my Tamron is that it's too long and even a 50mm is too long. A friend of mine has said unless I'm spending £400-500 I'm not going to get what I'm after, not sure if theres any truth to that.
You list the 18-55 kit lens in your signature I would suggest that you use that to find the focal lenth that suits your style.

The original kit lens is quite soft around the edges,at the long end, which actually works out quite well for portraits.

Hey john, how would you rate the speed and sharpness of the 35mm lens you mentioned in comparison to the more dearer ones?
The DA 35mm F2.4 is said to be based on the FA35 F2.0 which is slightly faster. I have this lens and use it as a standard lens when I want to travel light. It is very good though others have commented on unflattering Bokeh.
The third Pentax 35 mm is the DA*35 F2.8 macro, which is very sharp and a high quality lens, but exposing every imperfection can again be quite unflattering.

I have a number of 50mm lenses and find myself reaching for an 'A' series F1.4. I like the more muted colours compared to the FA 50 F1.4. Apart from having a shallower depth of field, when compared to the F1.7 the F1.4s are noticably softer at the edges up to F8. This can be used creatively to create isolation and a psuedo 3D effects.

I received an email from Pentax in America this morning. It seems that they are running a sales campaign from Thanksgiving to Christmas involving a number of major retailors across several states and they are looking for Pentax enthusiasts to help drive sales.

This is interesting to me, as I suggested a similar approach in a letter to the marketing department in the UK around 2 years ago.

I have included part of the original email along with a link for any US based forum members, who might be interested.

I have for sale a Teleplus PKA fit 2X convertor in good used condition. There are some scratches on the plastic body, but the glass is clear and free from scratches and the contacts are clean and working correctly. I have used this with a number of 'A' series lenses on film and digital and have been pleased with the results.

Hi Kris, in answer to your questions, yes Pentax did make a specific MEF case. It is marked MEF on the base. It stands approx 6mm higher and has claret coloured liner. As far as I can tell the top section is the same.

I purchased the one I have on eBay , it was just advertised as a case for a ME Super.

The condition is not great, but base part is yours if you want it.

Send me your details via PM and I will get it into the post on Monday.

Presumably the new lenses will mean new firmware for the K5 (in body lens correction). This maybe an opportunity to add a few of the Mk2 version improvements in under the radar.
