The LED display has failed on my late model LX and despite Robin's efforts (Harrow Technical) a replacement PCB is proving hard to source. The Pentax part number is 24001T100 for the PCB.

I know its a long shot, but if someone has a non functioning late model with that board I would be very interested in acquiring it.

This seems more like a marketing brochure for a APS-C system than the lens maps of the past few years. There is no reference to the previously mentioned new lenses or AFG360 replacement. Though strangely the old 'A' series convertors, which not been produced for several years have a section.

The lens map published last year is still on the US site

Dear All,

Well it appears us pentaxians are not quite as weather resistant as our cameras

Most people have understandably pulled out, and the farm resembles more of a post apocalyptic waste ground than darling buds of may at the moment.

Vic gets the award for most intrepid, but I fear it would be just you and me Vic, (possibly Steve) and there are only so many horse burgers we can eat between us.

I suggest I stick them in the freezer and reschedule to a time when Mike has been rebuilt.

If I have forgotten anyone, or anyone really wants to come I will be around most of the day. Just let me know.

Cheers

Will
Hi Will, I think it is probably a wise decision to postpone. Its not so much the cold and wet, but the fog that over my way has never lifted all day. There are only so many moody atmospheric shots that you can take.

Hi Will, I hope to be there. In light of the foggy mornings, maybe a later start is in order.

Can you PM me the address details please.

Thanks Nass, good to hear. It will be used predominantly for landscape. I shall go for it.
I purchased mine a few years back from a forum member. I use it quite often, as a general walkabout lens and for landscape shots. Good solid build quality, very good flare resistance even without a lens hood.

As with most 'A' series the colours are more muted (which I prefer) than the current DA series.

As Nass wrote, it is a little soft wide open , but sharpens up nicely by F5.6

By default I set it to F8 / 7 feet and everything is pretty much in focus.

As per the previous post this assembly forms the ccontact pin. Handle with care as it is actually three separate components.

For refitment

1. Set the Aperture ring to the 'A' position.
Look down at the lens mount and note the position of the 'hole' were the pin pops through relative to the body of the lens.

2. Place the lens front down/mount up and carefully remove the five screws that hold the mount to the body. Do not hold the lens by the aperture ring as it can easily become dislodged and the small indent ball bearing may be lost.

3. Before going any further note how the assembly resembling O-X26 on the drawing is fitted. It too can sometimes become dislodged.

4. Now recalling the position of the 'hole' in the mount, look down at the lens and you will see a slight recess on the outside of the lens body. The slot formed by the recess and the aperture ring is where the pin assembly is located.

5. Carefully drop the assembly in place and apply a small amount of pressure to compress the spring. Holding the compressed assemply in position carefully move the aperture ring away from the 'A' postion, F16 is fine.

6. You can then let go of the assembly which will now be held compressed and in position, by another slot on the aperture ring.

7. Before refitting the lens mount check that the O-X26 assembly is still in position.

8. Once refitted check that the aperture blades are moving freely through their range. If they are not moving correctly the O-X26 assembly is not correctly located.

9. Then put the lens into 'A' mode and the contact pin will be released from its retaining slot and you should see it move slightly.

Thats about all there is to it. Relatively easy, provided you exercise a little care when disassembling and handling the contact pin.

Was that as a result of the Update Steve. if ao did they require any adjustment, with different values, before the update?
As per previous post, all the lenses needed a tweak on the plus side (an extra 3-5 points)
The FA35 and DA55-300 were previously at 0.
The others were already on the plus side.

My only real concern is that the the DA* 16-50 is now towards the maximum on the + side with little scope for further adjustment.

Everytime there is a firmware update someone notices an AF improvement.
Wishful thinking most of the time I would guess.
I take your point Mike, but I found the results significant enough to post.

IQ wise the FA50 and DA*16-50 (@ 16mm) both wide open are noticably sharper than I previously managed to obtain.
Of course this may have been down to my poor technique, but I have previously spent quite a bit of time tweaking settings for my FA50 and have always been slightly underwhelmed with the results. So much so, that I preferred to manually focus my 'A' series 1.4 when I wanted to shoot wide open.

AF speed has never been an issue for me as most of what I shoot is pretty static, but my perception is that with the exception of the FA31Ltd the lenses seemed to lock slightly quicker, particularly inside in a dimly lit room. I accept I might be wrong with this, I have no second K5, so a side by side comparison is not possible.
