Printer and monitor calibration required. Alternatively you could turn down the brightness of your monitor and reprint until you get the right result. Don't forget you monitor is backlit and your prints aren't.

I'm going to add my grr to it too! It was also strongly hinted that the deal would end EOM.

There is an article on here (PU) explaining how to disable HSM/SDM forcing the camera to use the screw drive.

DA35 2.4 +1
What an awesome little lens, it's really light almost to the point of flimsy (compared to most Pentax kit) and then you pop it on your camera and once calibrated (+10) on my K-7 it is amazingly sharp and produces wonderful true colours. a fab little lens at a sensible price. Shame Pentax didn't release the 50mm f1.8 in the same price structure.

The difference in quality will be vast, I did once have a cheap grip for my K-7 but I could tell that at the rate I shoot it was not going to last and besides I was not a fan of a grip except when using with a larger lens for balance so moved it on. You can feel the difference, Gareth_Cardiff has a genuine one and the difference is quite noticeable. Save your dosh and buy Pentax.

That's F.A.B.
I could even convince SWMBO that we need one for holiday instead of a bag of lenses!
