K5ii cheap grip

Hi guys,

I have just received a K-5ii after upgrading my K-X and was wondering where the best place to get a cheap 3rd party grip from? Also, do they cause any problems with the camera or do they work fine? Any help people?

The cheapo I have on my K7 works just fine. The best to get have two steel locating pins not the black plastic pins.

Thanks! I don't like the idea of getting it from Hong Kong though, purely because I hate waiting This is a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway just to be 100%, any grip I buy that says it fits the k-7 will work on my k-5ii right?

Yes. When I bought my IIs the grip was out of stock so I put my cheapo off my K7 on it for a few days and it fitted perfectly. If you look around flebay I'm sure you will find one in the UK.

Any of the D-BG4 style grips on eBay will work. There's a slight issue with the variant with the metal pins, in that the receiving holes on the K-5 are slightly smaller than the K-7; one of the pins got pulled out of the grip when detaching it from the camera. Not a big deal though in the long run.

You have just spent a considerable amount of your cash on a fantastic new camera, have the decency to put a genuine grip on it, that way you keep your WR.

Generally people who've just spend a considerable amount of cash on a camera don't have a spare £150 kicking around to buy a piece of plastic with half a dozen buttons on it.

Certainly not when you would be better served spending that extra cash on lenses lol.

But With Deals at Jessops they where £100 Last year, that is the genuine grip and it is WR.

Even at £100, it's still more than triple the price of one of the generic grips lol.

The difference in quality will be vast, I did once have a cheap grip for my K-7 but I could tell that at the rate I shoot it was not going to last and besides I was not a fan of a grip except when using with a larger lens for balance so moved it on. You can feel the difference, Gareth_Cardiff has a genuine one and the difference is quite noticeable. Save your dosh and buy Pentax.

At £100 it a great buy... weather sealed as well...

I've used the chinese grip on my k-5 for 18 months now without any issues and I shoot in a lot of rain too.

I didnt think there was that much difference in quality between the chinese and the original, I have tried them side by side, in fact I prefer the feel of the shutter button on my chinese grip which needs a slightly firmer press and feels more tactile.
