The first image is a real 'cracker' - great photograph!

Lovely sense of being there in this set, Lenny. The vistas are grand, yet intimate (6 & 11 in particular), and the details quite evocative (7 & 13 really hit the mark). Thanks for taking us along on your hike.

Hello all, I've been busy/away/offline for the past month or so - will try to catch up on viewing and commenting your images in the coming weeks...

Back from Berlin and Dollendorf where we spent some time with friends, so photos will be trickling down from the recent trip. I didn't get much solitary roaming photography time (yet enjoyed the company immensely!), which has probably affected my output in that I had to make decisions much faster than usual, make do with the subjects present, all while being a good husband, father and friend - I'm sure some of you can relate. Oh, and I had to become friends with my newly acquired K-70 (my K-01 has developped a sticky shutter syndrome - or rather, stuck shutter. It will only open for video, which I will keep it for. Old friends don't die, they just go moving pictures on you).

This was our second visit to the city, and we find it to be very enjoyable for many reasons - the most important being the sense of space in such an important capital (historical reasons lie behind the many open spaces, trees, forest and lakes that abound within the city limits). It must be the least densely populated of the European capitals, and one can certainly feel it in the pace of the city.

And it is a city of reflections, architecurally speaking, so, without further ado:

The city even reflects upon older times:

Of course, I couldn't help but reflect upon the state of things myself...

...and, as a reality check, go for some head-on mugshots of "Typisch Berlin":

More to come, and I welcome your thoughts and comments - some of these are way out of my comfort zone!

Eclectic water visions... you do have an affinity with the Element. 1, 8, 11 and 12 pop right out for me, visions of a parallel world - akin to the celtic 'mountain behind the mountain' - sometimes felt, rarely seen, and, one would think, unphotographable ... yet there it is. And not without humour: there's something Star Trek-y in 8 that makes me smile.

4 is in that other-wordly place too, in a different way - looks like a backbone to build a living something on ... 10 is, quite simply, fun, as is 2, in a more tongue-in-cheek manner. 6, strangely, resonates with an image I made in Saint Malo a few years back - I enjoy those kinds of shared vibrations over time and space.

Going through them again, I feel 1 is the really strong one here (as in speaking strongly to me). Makes me think of your ICM surfer series from a while back, yet here it is the water itself abstractly riding its own ripples as the surfers rode the ocean waves. The power of the Element is self-contained.

Really great work, again.

#1 works great for me, nothing to distract from that beautiful curve...

1 & 6 for me, they have an inspiring dreamy quality to them, a sort of soothing 'liquidness'... 4 & 5 are also fine images, of a rather meditatvie persuasion, working well together.

Lovely, I particularly like the middle three, perhaps #4 as my favorite for its more abstract/surreal nature (I'd call it the flower-parachute).

I'm liking these macros (again ). I agree with Lubbyman above concerning the background to #1 - works very well with the bug. #2 is quite graceful in its movement (and though I enjoy its colours, I'm sure it would lend itself beautifully to b&w). #8 is interesting in the way it blends from busy oof foreground to the left all the way to sheer minimalism in the antennae to the right (the 'V' of which points us to that incredibly colourful eye!). And #9 is a wonderful composition. Lovely, all.

Oh my. I do hope you have been well taken care of, and that your vision will remain unimpaired.
