There is something to be said for the Saudi way too. Cut their bloody hands off.

It is high time we stopped pussy-footing about with such scum in the west, or we will lose the freedoms that we all cherish.

It is indeed sad to have this happen. It is even sadder to realize that the bastards when caught ask for other burglaries to be taken into consideration and effectively they get off scot free with any number of burglaries. Also you as the one who has been done, no doubt get hit later on with a higher insurance premium.

It happened to us when I was a small child and I never forgot how the bastard had a whole string of similar offences "taken into consideration".

The worst thing about it all is that it usually happens to nice people.

I don't believe all what is writ on Wikipedia.

Everywhere else I have looked:-

Prime Lenses - A prime lens is a lens that has one focal length only.

and this from a printed book
"Prime lenses are lenses that have only a single focal length. These lenses are generally of high quality and low price, compared to their zoom lens counterparts. The most common focal lengths are 28mm, 50mm, 85 and 100mm"

A prime is a non-zoom lens. Like 40mm, 100mm, 21mm, 70mm.

Picasa on Linux works fine. ImgSeek I will investigate thanks for that one.

I use the folders system that some of you use. So at least I have all the images, but after awhile I cannot remember where just one image is. So on Mac I use Extensis Portfolio, which I am happy with mostly. When I can afford to change for a faster Mac, I will buy Aperture, perhaps that will be the replacement for Portfolio.

One can also on Windows/Mac use Filemaker database, but I suspect that would get unwieldy quickly. Has anyone tried that? I just tried it, and actually better start investigating this. If one takes just one event/folder and creates a database for that on either a Mac or Windows, it is usable on both I guess it would also work in Linux - perhaps with Open Office? The speed is quiet good too, and can have as many or as few fields as one wants.

Not happy with a M8? Why not? You can always keep on with the M8, and scan the results afterwards. I wouldn't dream of hand-holding zoom lens at the speeds mentioned. Matt has it right 1/50 is a minimum especially in poor light.
