Hi George,

Thanks for that, sounds like finally I will have found a replacement for the Psion 7 that I used to have and loved, but the eee is so much more capable! I have already a 4GB stick and will use that as a backup device. I need to buy a USB CD as well, unfortunately I chose all Firewire to go with my Mac. otherwise I would already have a CD.

For what I want it for it is perfect. Notes/email/letters/html and web pages. Looking forward to the time they are over here.

What is the eee like then George. I am planning to wait for a 8GB one and buy from Clove.com, I may keep the Linux distro it came with or do a fresh install with Ubuntu which I presently run on a Dell. After I feel happy with the eee, which I think I will, then I will sell my Dell.

Here is an interesting link indeed:-

So it should be no problem to have UFRAW running

For details see the Wiki, "Photography using the Eee - The Gimp, RAW Editing".

Sad reflection on life that one even has to think about such things, over and above the normal, natural care one takes.

I have the Pentax LL-80 AF Cross-Lined Matte Focusing Screen, which I find very good. They put it in at the shop when I bought the K10d, very quick and easy to install as I watched the sales girl. The new screen comes with instructions and a pair of tweezers.

Oh I see what you mean. In that case I would be lucky as I kept the original one.

Hang on a minute. I had the viewfinder changed when I bought my K10d, it came with pincers to facilitate removal therefore surely if the screen as crap on it, it surely is easier to clean than on an *ist DL, which I had, where the screen is not removeable.

That surely is not a value of £47, or it is a rip off in my humble opinion.

Agreed, I would not leave a tripod behind for such a trip, too important, if there is indeed low light possibility, I would be kicking myself if I went and the one thing needed was a tripod gathering dust at home.

I guarantee this guy never leaves home without a tripod irrespective of where he goes:-

Defintely a spare battery and plenty of SD cards.

I like the bicycle shot too, it is nicely lit and framed.

I use manual mode 90% of the time. AV or TAV or TV in that order for the rest of the time.
