So you reckon it is not worth the effort to create such a list? There are several members on the forum that buy secondhand lenses in particular, how do we know things are not hot property?

What I envisage is a new forum category, stolen items. In that a static list, showing Item, Serial Number. We then ask anyone to send via email details of their stolen goods plus contact details. On the forum is just listed the item and serial number. I would never mark items in any way. This way we provide a place for people to view a list of stolen items, so we can check before buying. The list will never be completely up to date by its very nature, but to my mind a list is better than nought. I would gladly collate all the emails and produce such a list if it is a case of willing manpower being needed.

Getting this thread back on track. Is there such a thing existing as a Stolen serial number database? If not would it not be a great idea to start one? On this site.

It ain't right that ordinary law-abiding folks are subjected to the terror in their own homes of being robbed.

The victim of crime today is much worse of than they were in the late fifties, when criminals got what they deserved.

Today it is the victim who suffers and the criminal has all the luxuries, even in jail.

That is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG and if it continues, society as we know it will go down the pan.

To all those bleeding Liberals, we ask the question if you are at home and burglar breaks in, what should the victim do, smile and ask the bastard if he wants a cup of tea and or the number to the safe and all the credit cards and then meekily hand over and go back to sleep? No that argument does not wash either. If you want to have a decent society, then you have to have deterrents that work. Hanging for murder, and jails with bread and water and no comfort for the inmates. This would be a very good start to begin to redress the balance that has certainly been lost in the UK. Ask any normally adjusted person and they will tell you the same, the balance between good and evil is heavily weighted now against the good. Of course some will die innocent, give me that any day to civilized society being wiped out, which is the direction it is going.

You are right thought not all cops are honest. Neither are the judges and juries.

Exactly I am so fed up with cop outs like the insurance will pay. Pathetic that is. Why on earth does one just have to shrug one's shoulders like that. If you work hard and earn a decent living, then one expects to keep what you pay for, instead of some bastard taking what is not his. I still say there is a lot to be said for amputation. The British system is the other way now, they don't want to offend the human rights of the criminal and to hell with your human rights.

Mind you under the present government what can you expect?
