Clever marketing I guess, charge another £300 for what's basically the same camera as all the rest - one for the fanboys I think

I don't own the 18-135 but have just picked up a tamron 18-250 from someone who had bought the 18-135, he actually commented that having viewed photos from both side by side he saw very little difference IQ wise...as I own a few pentax lenses I'd be very surprised if the 18-135 doesn't produce better colour/contrast than the superzoom though - at a guess probably very similiar to the DA17-70 which is excellent.

Yes, I've made a few - I think that they're are really good idea, especially to look back at holidays etc.

I have found that quality varies quite a bit, the best ones I've had here in the UK are made by CEWE

I think some of the Tamrac messenger bags are quite discrete. I am thinking of getting one myself as it will hold everything I need for a shoot minus light stands, modifiers and backdrops.

I've not seen those, certainly more discrete than the Lowepro bags - the Rally 4 looks like a good fit for my K20D with DA12-24 + Tamron 18-250 too

Just giving the whole "discreet bag" thing some thought but doesn't it seem more likely that you'll stand out from the crowd with a messenger bag rather than backpack? It's commonplace to see people on holiday with backpacks so are you actually likely to attract more attention with a more "unusual" bag??

I'm looking into this too for an upcoming trip...the National Geographic MIDI sound like a decent option, maybe someone on here has used one?

I have been following this thread with interest and all of this has made me consider that at least I need to check the lenses I have, some of these have been ones that have been mentioned within this thread.

But, How do I go about it, can anyone point me in the right direction please,

Cheers
Having created the thread I'm thinking the same thing Chris, I've never checked my lenses on the K20D as I've never really seen any issues with them but it still sounds like a useful exercise...it would be useful if a link or 2 could be posted for the best test chart etc
