Thanks for the comments everyone..it was nice just to get out without the waterproofs on - the photos were a bonus !!

Hi Terry....I can see that you are not familiar with North wales - the water is rarely still, normally the gale force winds make it appear more like the sea - this was a relatively rare day in Snowdonia, at least for the last couple of years

Yesterday at last produced some decent landscape photography conditions amongst the Snowdonia mountains so I had an early rise to catch the sunrise..luckily the reflections on Llyn Ogwen were terrific. The lighting was still pretty good during my hike through the Glyderau mountains too, here are a few shots

BTW - I continue to be impressed by the K20D, the detail it captures is fantastic. I'm also pretty convinced that the SR is better than my previous GX10 as I usually use a monopod whilst hiking and the K20D seems to produce a much higher percentage of "pin-sharp" images

When the K20D first appeared it didn't really strike me as a "significant" upgrade so I held off for the K7D - unfortunately the pricing put me off the K7D & now I own the K20D.

What I immediately noticed is that the K20D is definitely a very significant improvement on the K20D, the most significant 3 improvements to me are:

1. Image Detail
2. Image Detail
3. Image Detail

I have to say it 3 times as the K20D still amazes me on the amount of detail it can capture...brilliant piece of kit for landscape work

Here's my favourite shot from the Airbus Family Day...it's taken with the 55-300 at full zoom which unfortunately was a little short for this one, still quite like the photo - shot just after they all exited the aircraft

I never used film to any degree, certainly didn't have an SLR...the advent of digital is the very thing that sparked my interest so have no real interest in film photography - I'm one for using the best technology available, digital it is !!

you only need one rainy Sunday for that, not a full summer of them

As coincidence would have it I posted my recent image of Broadway Tower on here (with perspective correction) and received a couple of similar comments - the correction required wasn't as strong as here though as it was shot at 17mm - personally I prefer the corrected version

After much reading and trial & error with sharpening I now use the "capture & output" sharpening method promoted by Bruce Fraser

http://www.creativepro.com/article/out-of-gamut-thoughts-on-a-sharpening-workflo...

I use ACR to add slight capture sharpening and then use the "photokit sharpener" plugin to sharpen after I sized the image for output

I also desaturate colour in ACR, mainly to keep things "in gamut" - I find ACR easier to use for this purpose and it's non-destructive too

Looks like you're making good use of it...great to have another option !!

Great colour in the Broadway Tower shot in particular

Some nice shots I reckon. I think my favorite is the last one, although personally I might be inclined to crop a little off the right hand side (?)

Thanks Mat.

To be honest this one is already cropped quite a bit..it was taken at a fair distance & full 300mm of the 55-300 lens I used. The great thing about my recent upgrade to the K20D though is that it allows quite a bit of cropping without any major quality issues
