Having taken up photography just a few years ago I've been very fortunate (& suprised) to make some regular cash from what is really a hobby, albeit a quite serious one now. Things are looking pretty promising already this year as I'll be having a few photos published in various places..it's certainly not going to make me rich & if the money stopped my photography certainly wouldn't.

Still it's sort of a nice feeling to know that people are prepared to part with their hard earned cash for photos that I take

Hi,

I haven't used the 80-320 with a TC but have tried the excellent
DA 55-300, the converter I used was the highly respected Tamron 1.4x, kindly loaned to me by a member of this very forum.

I was offered the Tamron at a very good price but even so after trying it out with the 55-300 decided not to buy, just too much "hunting" at the long end and a loss of image sharpness, which will probably moreso on the 80-320

Just my experience anyway

K20 gets my vote too...I upgraded from a GX10 (K10D clone) & the difference is significant, the leap from K20 to K-7 is much less so reading many user comments.

Personally I can't see me upgrading the K20 for a good while, excellent camera !!

Have you considered Oriel Mon in Llangefni? I saw your lovely shot of Penmon on the front of the Trinity House calendar but sorry didn't buy it.
Hi Howard,

I think Oriel Mon is a little out of my league to be honest, never really considered it.

I'm suprised you came across the Trinity House calendar, it's very poorly advertised...I'm hoping for better exposure later this year with a couple of front cover images on the more widely available North Wales/Snowdonia calendars (fingers crossed !!)

Have not seen anything from you recently

Hi Howard,

Yes, I've not been around the forum much recently for a couple of reasons really...

The weather whilst seemingly good for landscape photographs (at least the snow) has actually stopped me getting out as much as normal, I've found the road conditions in North wales too often a little dangerous to venture to my usual locations.

On a more positive note I've been talking to a couple of publishers & hope to have one or two more of my photographs in print in the near future.

I'll be back on the forum a little more frequently now the weather is making a change for the better

I use DSCL for most of my online printing, very good quality & good pricing too, unfortunately though they don't accept .Tiff files.

I'd also recommend Peak Imaging and Loxley

I must admit that I've very rarely had an issues with online prints, I always download their printer profile & "soft proof" before ordering though.

Both "classic" North Wales viewpoints, that view from Devils Kitchen certainly hasn't changed any in 18years, thankfully !!

The Glyderau are by far my favourite location in Snowdonia

Thanks again...a few more ideas to play with.

I've decided that even though I'm not 100% happy with this I'm going to keep the mono version & have a bit more of a play with it.

Ultimately though I'm hoping for a bit more snow & some better lighting - I can catch the shots I'd hoped for then !!

Thanks everyone for the feedback, very useful as usual..

As suggested I've done a quick mono conversion (levelled too)

This is the first shot I've posted in a while, the weather hasn't been great for landscape shots here in North Wales even though we've had decent snow catching the mountains not shrouded in mist has been more luck than judgement

This is from this morning & not really the shot I went for, Snowdon was swamped by cloud again unfortunately

Would appreciate peoples thoughts on this one

thanks

Simon
