In these situations, from a customer perspective, it seems to make much more sense for manufacturers to make an official announcement as soon as they have established a cause/solution. Certainly this would reduce the concerns of any potential buyers (me being one for the K5) and not affect sales as severly as allowing the rumours to spread like this one has on the internet.
After reading a few posts on this issue myself there's no way I'm spending £1000+ on the K5 until the issue is resolved and officially explained.

The one on the right looks like they set up a compact on a tripod and shot it themselves - not knowing exactly where to stand

I like the casual approach of the shots, certainly for Royals but framing etc is pretty poor IMHO

Great shots Andrew...

The conditions have been the same around the Hawarden area for 3 days now, just a little further along the road in Mold & no frost - bizarre to say the least, I might try & pinch some time at work tomorrow and take the camera out myself !!

The DA17-70 is a very different lens though so it's strange to compare it with that one, it doesn't even have the same range.
This made me laugh Steffan...I completely mis-read the OPs original thread & thought it was about the DA 16-50

I don't own it so I'm not commenting based upon experience but I've read a few threads on here & the other Pentax forum where it's been suggested that it's IQ is not as good as/or at best only equal to the DA 17-70, considering the price difference it could be a possible reason for it's apparent lack of popularity??

YES. I am also fed up of grad filters, sunset/sunrise shots
I'd agree with some of your list, certainly HDR seems to be ever more popular.....grad filters & sunset/sunrise shots are key components of landscape photography though

Nice series of shots, definitely the first for me - somehow it just seems the most balanced of the compositions

Loads of terrific images this year - I'm glad to see they've chosen less heavily processed shots this year too

Not sure about in-camera lens correction but I use the PTlens software from time to time and it's execellent, I certainly don't see any image degradation

Isn't the sea calm?
It certainly was, a near perfect day as winter goes in North Wales - this was taken on the same day I shot the Caernarfon Castle reflections, how things change in a week !!
