It looks good to me, 2.30pm looks more like the golden hour! It hasn't really added any dynamic effects from the motion of clouds and waves, but it seems to have done something interesting to the light. Don't suppose you took a regular shot to compare?
Not exactly the same but taken 5 minutes before...the ND seems to have created a more graduated effect to the sky aswell as obviously flattening out the water

Not sure if this has been posted but an "official" review has been posted....

Having had a quick read it sounds reasonably good, they don't seem overly impressed though especially considering it's been done by a pentax group. I don't make my mind up on single reviews anyway but I'd be very suprised if this tempts me away from my DA 17-70 !!

Looks a nice shot Simon, but without exposure info, we can't see why you've used it/needed it Is it f/1.4 at 1/100th sec.
Good point !!

The shot was taken around 2.30pm last friday, a bit of an experiment to see if the 10stop would make something a little more appealing from "normal" daytime lighting.

settings were 20s, F16

I've just bought a B&W 10stop ND filter and this is the first chance I've had to try it out

It will be interesting to see some reviews on this, especially compared to my current DA17-70. Having just bought the 12-24 the wide end isn't quite so important and the WR would be great for a "walkaround" travel lens - IQ/distortion levels are the most important for me though so I'm looking forward to seeing a bit more info.

Very little chance I'd say, the H&S rep would have a fit !!

The main reason given for .PEF was as George mentions...file size. Personally this seemed a bit of a non-issue - having spent £500+ on a DSLR body spending £20 on a decent 4GB memory card was pretty insignificant

Everyones said it already really...I've never used anything but .DNG which makes more sense than .PEF to me

My issues with the K20, now being serviced in preparation for moving on, might just have something to do with its source.

I am not as comfortable with it as my K10. I find the end result did not justify the upgrade. Perhaps it is all in the mind.

Always interesting how peoples experiences differ...I must admit that for me moving from the K10D to the K20D was a very pleasant suprise as my expectations were quite low - the main difference was the detail that the Samsung sensor can capture, far beyond that of the K10D in my view. Other than that I'd agree that differences are minor.

The K5 is certainly on my list but it's appeal isn't really related to using it for my landscape photos moreso when I'm travelling as the better high iso and the size/ergonomics mentioned by Gwyn would definitely be useful as would improved Live View functionality.

Out of interest what are your issues with the K20, I guess if you're thinking of the K5 it must be related to FPS? Otherwise what's likely to make the K5 more appealing than the K20?

I guess the term "serious amateurs and professionals" is a marketing suggestion that users will need to learn a bit about the technical side of photography to make the most of the K5, if that's you then the K5 is worth a look. For anyone more interested in pre-set modes etc then the K5 (or K20/K10) are probably not the best choice.

I'd class myself as serious amateur - I wouldn't make my camera choice based on the marketing terminology though
