Hi all, as part of my mid-life crisis I was intending to purchase the DA 300mm, using it mainly for wildlife/sports photography, but then having read about the 60-250mm I was struck by the thought of having a 'high end' zoom lens with its extra versatility.

I now cannot make up my mind which to go for, so has any one else had the same quandry and can vouch for either lens?

Cheers.

I'd say its about 1-2mm at most, I guess its just been well used, glass seems ok though.

Hi all,

Having just bought a second hand 55-300mm DA I was somewhat perturbed to find it has barrel wobble, more so when extended and more than any other lens I've owned.
I dont think it affects IQ but there is movement none the less, anyone else come across this situation?

Cheers.

If you're referring to the 55-300, there are both versions.

The "L" version lacks the quick shift focus feature and also has a plastic (rather than metal) mount. It also doesn't come with a lens hood. Thus it's significantly cheaper ...
Yes I was referring to to the 55-300, though are both version of the same optical quality?

I am now the owner of a DA40mm f2.8 and as I also have the 35mm F2.4 I had a view to selling the latter, but after some initial comparison shots from a tripod and then close scrutiny in photoshop, its very hard to tell which came from which.

The problem is I like the perspective of the DA35.

The build quality of the DA40 is excellent though.

Thanks for that, I will bear it in mind.

Hi all,

Forgive my ignorance, but having recentlyy aquired a KR I was somewhat perturbed to read about it having "not much RAW headroom", what does this mean in practical terms?, does it mean the RAW files are not as big as say a K20's?

I have tested the K-r and I think if you are reaching this conclusion then there is probably a fault. I would keep a K-r over the K10D without any hesitation, so maybe trying another one would be a good idea?
Just rememberd this thread I recently sent the Kr for inspection to Johnsons and after re calaberation its like shooting with a new camera. Im now happy with the focus and the IQ and at last happy with my purchase.

What was wrong with your KR and did they re-calibrate it other than using the Fine Focus Adjustment?
